LAHORE:The punctuality of trains and the facilities being provided to passengers during the train journey should be improved further.
This was directed by Secretary/ Chairman Railways Habib-ur-Rehman Gilani while presiding over a meeting at the Railways Headquarters here on Friday. He asked the staff to review their performance at the railway headquarters weekly so that operational and other problems could be assessed and overcome swiftly.
“From the weekly meetings, you will be able to assess which sectors need improvement,” he said.
The IT Department was directed to link the material management system of Carriage Factory Islamabad and the depot of Chief Controller of Stores so that the inventory record could inspected online.
Representatives of freight/ cargo companies also met the Chairman Railways in the committee room. During the meeting, the representatives of the companies presented suggestions regarding the issues related to freight/ cargo and their improvement. Chairman Habib-ur-Rehman Gilani issued instructions to the railway authorities for immediate resolution of their legitimate issues. He said that steps should be taken to increase operational efficiency and improve the loading/ unloading system.
Chief Executive Officer Pakistan Railways Nisar Ahmed Memon, Additional General Manager Traffic Syed Mazhar Ali Shah, Additional General Manager Infrastructure Asif Matin Zaidi, Additional General Manager Mechanical Salman Sadiq, Advisor Business Development Farooq Haider Sheikh besides senior officers participated in the meeting .
The monthly performance was reviewed and chairman railways was briefed on freight, passenger, land related matters and other issues.
