President Cantt Board directs authorities to remove encroachments from Saddar

RAWALPINDI: President Cantt Board and Station Commander Rawalpindi, Brig Salman Nazar has directed the authorities concerned of Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) to remove all the encroachments from Saddar Bazaar and make all-out efforts to facilitate the citizens.

According to a RCB spokesman Qaiser Mehmood, the President Cantonment Board had ordered the authorities concerned to open another entry gate of Potohar Parking from Bank Road side to facilitate the citizens and reduce the congestion on Bank Road.

Brig. Salman Nazar said, there were two parking areas in Saddar to address parking problem, adding, security system of the parking areas would further be improved.

He said that LED lights would be installed in all markets of Saddar Bazaar which would also help save electricity.

Brig. Salman Nazar said that violation of the building by-laws would not be tolerated.

The spokesman informed that RCB on the special directives of Executive Officer Cantonment Board, Rawalpindi Muhammad Umar Farooq Ali Malik had accelerated its ongoing anti-encroachment drive and confiscated 198 truckloads of goods from different markets during first five months of the current fiscal year besides imposing fines amounting to over Rs 1.7 million on the rules violators.

Qaiser Mehmood informed that 286 operations were conducted during the period while 56 rules violators were

also issued notices.

He informed that anti-encroachment teams confiscated the encroachment material from Tench Bhatta, Kamalabad, Peoples Colony, Dhoke Saydian, Misrial Road, Saddar, Bakra Mandi, Chor and other areas, adding that operation was being conducted on daily basis while permanent and temporary encroachments were being removed.

He advised the citizens not to violate the rules otherwise stern action would be taken against the violators and no relaxation would be given to anyone.
