ISLAMABAD: Chief Minister’s Advisor on Tourism Asif Mehmood on Wednesday said that the Punjab government was taking tangible steps to make the province hub of tourism and tourism department was exploring new hidden sites with improving road infrastructure.
Talking to a private news channel, he said that Pakistan Tehreek e Insaaf (PTI) government was focusing to promote the hidden tourist sits and promotion of Eco-tourism in the country, adding, Punjab tourist department would be run along modern lines to explore, develop and introduced it at global level.
Punjab government has planned to launch a dedicated mobile application and would facilitate tourists with online booking facility for resorts, he said, adding, new tourist schemes and promotional activities of the department will be promoted through the application.
He said government of Punjab had taken measures to boost archaeological, adventure, historical and cultural tourism of Punjab in a bid to attract more foreign and domestic tourists.
He said that with the help of World Bank the government of Punjab would soon launch a new tourism development scheme, adding, the government will spend money on showcasing Punjab through documentaries and awareness of heritage sites.
He said that the provincial government would carry out joint ventures with private firms to execute tourism projects for creating jobs and economic activity in the area.
Advisor explained that work on the chairlift project at Fort Munro would be completed soon.
