Peshawar: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Sohail Afridi on Wednesday distributed appointment letters to 4,306 newly recruited police constables, marking the completion of recruitment across all eight divisions of the province.

According to a statement issued by the Chief Minister’s House, the recruitment is a significant step towards strengthening the manpower and operational capacity of the KP Police.

Addressing the ceremony, the CM congratulated the recruits and urged them to uphold the principles of merit, integrity and honesty throughout their professional careers.

He said the provincial government was committed to ensuring merit and transparency.

He described the KP Police, Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and Special Branch as among the country’s finest law enforcement institutions due to their professionalism and dedication.

Sohail Afridi said the new recruits were joining a force with a proud history of courage and sacrifice, stressing that they must preserve its honour, dignity and traditions.

He paid tribute to the police force for its unwavering role in combating terrorism over the past 22 years and acknowledged the immense sacrifices rendered by its personnel.

The CM urged the constables to remain steadfast in the discharge of their duties, resist any form of pressure or interference, and make the elimination of crime and terrorism their top priority.

He reaffirmed the government’s resolve to continue the fight against terrorism until lasting peace is fully restored.

He also advised the recruits to serve the public with courtesy, respect and fairness, saying these qualities define a professional police officer.

He assured them of the provincial government’s continued support for the police force at every level.

Welcoming the induction of women constables, the CM said the government was taking effective measures to empower women.

He added that women would receive equal opportunities under internship programmes, interest-free loan schemes and other government initiatives.

Gujrat: The Punjab Emergency Service Gujrat said in its six-month performance report that Rescue-1122 responded to 19,935 emergency calls during the first six months of 2026, providing rescue and medical assistance to 20,800 patients with an average response time of 6.25 minutes.

According to Rescue 1122 sources, the performance report, released under the supervision of District Emergency Officer Umar Akbar Ali Ghuman, showed that the service handled 8,571 medical emergencies, 5,158 road traffic accidents, 2,481 rescue operations, 2,266 inter-hospital patient transfers, 841 fall incidents, 329 fire emergencies, 254 crime-related emergencies, 20 drowning incidents, eight building collapse incidents and seven other emergencies between January 1 and June 30.

The report stated that 7,856 patients were provided first aid at the scene, while 10,338 critically injured persons were shifted to hospitals after receiving emergency medical care. It added that 341 people died either at the scene or while being transported to hospitals.

District Emergency Officer Umar Akbar Ali Ghuman said Rescue 1122 personnel remained on high alert round the clock to protect the lives and property of citizens. He urged the public to call the 1122 helpline only in genuine emergencies, avoid unnecessary calls and give way to emergency vehicles to help rescuers reach incident sites without delay.

Under the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, cattle breeders owning between 5 and 20 cows, buffaloes or calves are eligible to apply for this financial assistance.

According to the details, the interest-free loan can be utilized by farmers to cover essential expenses such as animal feed, silage, mineral supplements and vaccination, which will ultimately boost milk and meat production in the province.

A government spokesperson said that the program aims to strengthen the rural economy, promote modern animal husbandry practices, and elevate the incomes of small and medium-sized livestock owners. A key feature of the digital facility includes allowing farmers to withdraw up to 25 percent of the approved loan amount in cash.

Special help desks have been established in all tehsils of Rawalpindi district, including Rawalpindi, Gujar Khan, Kahuta, Kallar Syedan, and Taxila. Eligible farmers can register at their nearest Civil Veterinary Hospital or by calling the helpline at 08000-9211.
