Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi on Wednesday termed JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s reported remarks regarding the country’s martyrs as “regrettable,” saying the sacrifices of Pakistan’s security forces were the foundation of the nation’s peace and stability.

In a statement, the governor said Pakistan’s mosques, Imambargahs and religious seminaries remained secure because of the sacrifices rendered by the armed forces, Frontier Corps and police personnel. He described the martyrs as the pride of the nation and said their sacrifices had ensured the country’s security and sovereignty.

Kundi said Pakistan was engaged in a war against terrorism, particularly against Fitna al-Khawarij, and stressed that political leaders should avoid making statements that could undermine the morale of security forces during such a critical time.

He said the country had achieved independence through immense sacrifices and continued to stand strong because of the bravery and dedication of its martyrs. Referring to Pakistan’s military preparedness, he added that the nation’s strength and resilience were a result of the sacrifices of its armed forces.

The governor alleged that Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s narrative would only please forces hostile to Pakistan and reiterated that the entire nation stood shoulder to shoulder with the security forces and the families of martyrs.

He urged the JUI-F chief to apologize to the nation and to the families of the martyrs over his reported remarks.

Provincial Information Minister Shafi Ullah Jan said the visit, organized on the directives of Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Khan Afridi, aims to enable media representatives to independently observe ground realities and interact with forestry experts, local communities, and government officials.

The first delegation, comprising around 30 journalists from Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi, will visit the Kohistan Forest Division, Kaghan Forest Division, Nathia Gali Fast Range, and woodlot depots.

During the visit, participants will receive briefings on forest protection laws, measures to curb illegal logging, biodiversity conservation, natural regeneration, scientific harvesting, and modern forest monitoring systems.

The minister said journalists have been encouraged to report any illegal logging or forest-related violations observed during the visit, assuring that all such complaints would be thoroughly investigated and action taken in accordance with the law.

Multan: Five children, who went missing six days ago, were recovered safely by local police from the Sikandar Abad area.

According to an official statement, a case regarding disappearance of five children had been registered at Raja Ram Police Station. The matter was brought to the notice of the City Police Officer (CPO), who directed the police to make immediate efforts to trace the children by using all available resources, including human intelligence, mosque announcements and media advertisements.

Following an intensive search operation, police successfully recovered all five children, who were under the age of 10, from a suburban area.

The parents expressed gratitude to the police for the safe recovery of their children.

The CPO said the police remain on high alert to ensure protection of the lives and property of the public.
