Lahore: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Lahore Zone has arrested three suspects allegedly involved in hawala-hundi, illegal currency exchange and violation of the Copyright Act during separate raids in the city on Wednesday.
According to an FIA, suspect Hafiz Usman Ali was allegedly involved in hawala-hundi and illegal currency exchange. Authorities recovered Rs1.604 million in Pakistani currency and 300 Chinese yuan from his possession.
Documentary and digital evidence relating to hawala-hundi transactions was also recovered from the suspect, the spokesperson said.
In separate operations, suspects Khalid Siddique and Muhammad Usman were arrested for allegedly violating the Copyright Act. The spokesman said a large quantity of counterfeit products of a well-known registered company was recovered from their possession. The suspects were allegedly involved in selling counterfeit products bearing the registered company’s branding.
Further investigation into the cases is underway, the spokesperson added.
