MULTAN:Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO) has apprehended 319 power pilferers during the second day of an ongoing operation in South Punjab under the direction of the Ministry of Energy (Power Division).
The task force raided various places in 13 districts across the region against power pilferers and imposed a fine of Rs 17.9 million on them.
MEPCO teams caught 58 power pilferers in Multan, 63 in DG Khan, 20 in Vehari, 28 in Bahawalpur, 34 in Sahiwal, 45 in Rahim Yar Khan, 41 in Muzaffargarh and 15 in Bahawalnagar and Khanewal districts.
As many as 68 cases were registered out of applications sent against 316 power pilferers to relevant police stations.
306 domestic, nine commercial, three agricultural, and one industrial consumers were found involved in electricity theft.
