Bahawalpur: As many as 35 green tractors were given away to farmers free of cost in the district under 'Grow More Wheat Program' introduced by the Punjab government. In this regard, a ceremony was held to give keys of green tractors to 35 farmers who were selected through balloting and transparent system. MNA and senior leader of Pakistan Muslim League-N, Malik Iqbal Channar was chief guest of the ceremony. Deputy Commissioner Bahawalpur, Dr Farhan Farooq presided over the ceremony. Addressing the ceremony, Malik Iqbal Channar said that under the vision of Chief Minister Punjab, farmers of Bahawalpur region had got green tractors free of cost. He further said that 891 farmers had applied for free of cost tractor scheme, adding that out of them, 35 were selected on merit. Eight farmers from Bahawalpur tehsil, seven from Hasilpur tehsil, six from Ahmadpur East tehsil, nine from Yazman tehsil and six from Khairpur Tamewali tehsil got green tractors under the scheme. Senior officials of agriculture department al so attended the ceremony.
