Lahore: The 3rd Lahore Heritage Run was held at Lahore Fort on Sunday with around 3,000 participants from civil society taking part in the event organized by the Lahore Runners Club in collaboration with the Punjab Walled Cities and Heritage Areas Authority (PWCA).
The run commenced from Hazuri Bagh at Lahore Fort and passed through Lahore Fort and Circular Road, covering Kashmiri Gate, Sheranwala Gate and Zakki Gate before returning through Mochi Gate and entering the Walled City through Delhi Gate.
The participants then passed through Sabeel Wali Gali, Shahi Hammam, Hukka Wali Gali, Gali Surjan Singh, Wazir Khan Mosque, Kashmiri Bazaar, Sunehri Mosque, Rang Mahal, Pani Wala Talab, Langa Mandi and Taxali Bazaar before concluding the run at Hazuri Bagh, Lahore Fort.
Deputy Commissioner Lahore participated in the run as the chief guest and distributed awards among the winners. Rescue 1122, PERA Force, Traffic Police and Lahore Police provided emergency, traffic management and security support throughout the event.
Speaking on the occasion, DG PWCA Najmussaqib said connecting Lahore’s historic sites with public activities was an effective way to engage citizens with the city’s rich cultural heritage. He said PWCA would continue collaborating with different organizations and civil society to promote public engagement with Lahore’s heritage and make historic sites more accessible to the community.
The coordinated efforts of the concerned departments contributed to the successful conduct of the event, while the collaboration between PWCA and Lahore Runners Club provided citizens an opportunity to experience and engage with the city’s historic landmarks.
