Rickshaw driver arrested for ‘harassing’ two sisters

Faisalabad: Millat Town police have arrested a rickshaw driver for allegedly harassing two sisters and damaging their car after intercepting their vehicle on the way home.



Police spokesman said that Hafsa Fatima and his sister Zuha Fatima were travelling home in their car when the accused Arslan, allegedly stopped them on the way and harassed them.



The accused also reportedly struck their car with his rickshaw, causing damage to the vehicle during incident.



Following the report, SHO Millat Town police station Ali Akbar took action and arrested the accused, the spokesperson added.



Meanwhile, City Police Officer (CPO) Tanveer Hussain said that the police had adopted zero-tolerance policy against harassment of women.



He said that protection of women’s rights was top priority of Faisalabad police in line with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz.



He directed the relevant police officials to ensure strict action against individuals involved in harassment and other offences against women. Such cases should be dealt with according to law, he added.
