Lahore: The Cantt Division Police arrested 46 beggars and their facilitators over the past 48 hours during a crackdown against begging.
According to the SP Cantt, police operations across various areas, including Factory Area, South Cantt, Mustafaabad, Baghbanpura, and North Cantt, resulted in the arrest of 22 beggars.
Police stated that additional 12 beggars were taken into custody during operations in the Harbanspura, Manawan, Batapur, and Defence-A areas. Similarly, 12 beggars were arrested from the Defence-B, Ghaziabad, Defence-C, Barki, and Hayer areas.
The SP Cantt stated that cases have been registered against the arrested individuals at the respective police stations, and they have been handed over to the investigation wing for further inquiry.
Police officials affirmed that the crackdown on begging will continue, and legal action will be taken against violators in accordance with the law.
