Muzaffargarh: Exactly 494 Imams of tahsil Muzaffargarh received Rs 25,000 pay orders each under
the Honorarium Card Programme, a welfare initiative of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, at a ceremony held at the district council hall here Monday.
The ceremony was attended by MPA Aon Hameed Dogar and Deputy Commissioner Muzaffargarh Usman Tahir Jappa as special guests.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC declared mosque Imams as a source of peace, guidance, and moral values in society, and in line with the directives of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the Punjab government was taking all possible steps for their welfare and well-being.
Additional deputy commissioner (General) Muhammad Yousaf Cheena and Assistant Commissioner Muzaffargarh Ali Sameer, said the Punjab government was implementing practical measures to improve the social status and financial stability of mosque Imams.
The DC informed that pay orders were distributed among 494 deserving mosque imams in Tehsil Muzaffargarh, adding that from next month, this honorarium will be disbursed through ATM cards. He further said that the distribution of pay orders is also underway at Tehsil Alipur and Jatoi.
Participants said that honoring mosque Imams is a social responsibility and in line with Islamic teachings. A large number of religious scholars belonging to different schools of thought from across the district attended the ceremony and appreciated the initiative of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, terming it a commendable step for the welfare of religious leaders.
