5,308 proclaimed offenders arrested from Faisalabad

Faisalabad: Faisalabad police have arrested 5,308 proclaimed offenders during the current year in an intensified crackdown against the accused wanted in serious criminal cases, marking an increase of 1,357 arrests over the corresponding figure of 3,951 recorded last year.



According to police spokesman Tariq Jutt, the arrested proclaimed offenders included 1,973 suspects placed in A-category and 3,335 in B-category.



He said that the crackdown had been conducted under the leadership of City Police Officer (CPO) Tanveer Hussain while the police teams carried out sustained operations against proclaimed offenders wanted in different serious criminal cases.



He said that the police had intensified efforts to trace and apprehend fugitives and proclaimed offenders through a combination of human intelligence, surveillance cameras and modern technical resources.



He said that the use of human intelligence, CCTV cameras and other technological tools had helped police identify and locate suspects who had been evading arrest.



Comparing the current performance with last year, Tariq Jutt said that 3,951 proclaimed offenders had been arrested during the previous year whereas the number had risen to 5,308 during the current year, showing an increase of 1,357 arrests.



The arrests reflected the continued focus of Faisalabad Police on apprehending individuals wanted in criminal cases and bringing them within the ambit of law, he added.



Meanwhile, CPO Tanveer Hussain appreciated the performance of the police teams involved in the crackdown and directed them to further accelerate efforts against proclaimed offenders.



He instructed the concerned officers to maintain the momentum of operations and make effective use of available human and technological resources to trace remaining wanted suspects and strengthen law-enforcement measures across the district.
