LAHORE:Deputy Commissioner Lahore Muhammad Ali Ejaz has directed officials to ensure foolproof arrangements for the seven-day polio campaign scheduled for November 2 to 8, targeting more than 2.28 million children across the district.
He issued the directions while chairing a meeting to review final preparations for the Sub-National Immunisation Days (SNIDs) campaign. The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Municipal Services), CEO Health Dr Asif Arbab Khan Niazi, all assistant commissioners and health officers.
During the meeting, the CEO Health briefed participants on the campaign’s micro-planning, training schedule and performance during the September drive.
The meeting was informed that a target had been set to administer polio drops to 2,285,477 children across Lahore’s 10 towns and 274 union councils. A total of 6,410 teams have been constituted for the campaign, including 5,825 mobile teams, 371 fixed teams and 214 transit teams.
The DC directed officials to complete all pre-campaign training sessions from October 14 to 30 and ensure the supply of vaccines and logistics to all towns by October 30. He also ordered transit teams deployed at bus stands, railway stations and the city’s entry and exit points to ensure 100 per cent coverage of eligible children.
DC Muhammad Ali Ejaz warned that negligence would not be tolerated during the campaign and directed all assistant commissioners to remain present in the field and personally monitor mobile and transit teams. He further ordered the use of data validation, Lot Quality Assurance Sampling (LQAS) and market surveys to ensure third-party verification and quality assurance throughout the campaign.
