BAHAWALPUR: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) on Tuesday released a documentary on linking educational institutions in Pakistan with solar energy.
The report said that a 2.5 MW solar power plant has also been set up at Islamia University Bahawalpur.
Expenditure has been reduced and the university will be able to spend this amount on other projects. An interview of Vice-Chancellor, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob has also been aired.
The Vice-Chancellor said that the Islamia University of Bahawalpur needs energy for teaching, research, and other activities so that energy is available for lighting, air conditioning, and for other uses. Connecting the university to solar energy will save Rs. 70 million annually which will be used for other purposes.
It is worth mentioning that the foundation stone of the Solar Energy Project was laid on 22nd January 2021 at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur in collaboration with the Department of Planning and Development, Government of Punjab, and the project was completed in a short period of 12 months and the campus has been connected to solar energy.
This project is one of the important development projects initiated by Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob, Vice-Chancellor, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur.
