Rawalpindi: Additional Deputy Commissioner (Municipal Services) Rawalpindi Junaid Alam visited the headquarters office of Suthra Punjab Agency Rawalpindi and reviewed the ongoing cleanliness, waste management and post-rain clearance operations in the city.
Managing Director Suthra Punjab Agency Rawalpindi Rana Sajid Safdar, along with senior officers, received the Additional Deputy Commissioner and briefed him about the agency’s overall working, ongoing sanitation operations, waste lifting, post-rain clearance activities, field operations and public awareness campaign.
The briefing covered the cleanliness situation in different areas of the city, removal of waste, mud and debris after rainfall, clearance of drains and nullahs, deployment of field teams in low-lying areas and measures being taken for prompt redressal of citizens’ complaints.
Junaid Alam reviewed the cleanliness operations and stressed the need for all relevant departments to work in close coordination and adopt an effective strategy to provide citizens with a clean and healthy environment.
He emphasized the importance of promptly addressing sanitation and drainage-related issues following rainfall and ensuring immediate relief to citizens.
Rana Sajid Safdar said that field teams of the Suthra Punjab Agency had been kept on high alert during and after the recent heavy rains, while cleanliness and clearance operations were being carried out continuously in different parts of the city.
He said waste, mud and debris accumulated on streets, roads and other locations were being removed on a priority basis, with special focus on low-lying and sensitive areas.
Earlier, Rana Sajid Safdar visited Satellite Town A Block and inspected the ongoing post-rain cleanliness and clearance operation. Manager Operations District Rawalpindi Amir Younis Naik and Manager Operations City Syed Hassan Sardar briefed him about waste lifting and clearance activities in various areas.
The MD directed the concerned officers to ensure uniform cleanliness standards across all areas of Rawalpindi, saying that no area should face any disparity in sanitation services.
He instructed field teams to respond immediately wherever sanitation or drainage-related issues emerged due to rainfall and ensure prompt removal of waste, mud and debris so that normal life could be fully restored.
Rana Sajid Safdar also directed the officers to address every cleanliness-related complaint received from citizens on a priority basis and avoid unnecessary delays.
He said post-rain cleanliness and clearance operations should continue until sanitation conditions in all affected areas were completely restored.
The MD appreciated the performance of Suthra Punjab sanitation workers during the recent rains, saying that despite severe weather conditions, the workers performed their duties with dedication, hard work and a strong sense of responsibility.
He said appreciation by citizens and the media for the sanitation staff was a source of encouragement for field workers.
Rana Sajid Safdar appealed to citizens to cooperate with the Suthra Punjab Agency and dispose of their waste in designated bins or hand it over to sanitation workers instead of throwing it on roads, streets or in drains.
He said preventing garbage from entering drains and waterways during rainfall was essential for maintaining an effective drainage system.
‘Keeping the city clean is a shared responsibility. If every citizen fulfils their part, the objective of making Rawalpindi a clean, beautiful and healthy city can be achieved more effectively,’ he added.
The Suthra Punjab Agency Rawalpindi is utilizing all available resources to provide citizens with a clean and healthy environment and keeping field operations active and effective during rains and other emergencies to ensure timely relief to the public.
