Islamabad: Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal on Wednesday strongly condemned the attempted drone attack on Makkah Al-Mukarramah, saying that any attempt to target the sacred city was unacceptable.
In a statement, the federal minister said the sanctity of the Haramain Sharifain is an integral part of every Muslim’s faith and belief, stressing that no compromise should be made on the sanctity of Makkah and the safety of pilgrims.
He expressed complete solidarity with Saudi Arabia’s security, sovereignty and territorial integrity, saying Pakistan stood with the Kingdom in its commitment to protect the Haramain Sharifain.
‘Makkah Al-Mukarramah is a sacred city and any attempt to target it is unacceptable,’ he said, adding that any such attempt amounted to hurting the sentiments of the entire Muslim Ummah.
Ahsan Iqbal said the sanctity of Makkah and the safety of pilgrims must be ensured, stressing that Pakistan would stand firmly with Saudi Arabia in safeguarding its security and the holy places.
He called for abandoning the path of escalation and violence for peace and stability in the region, saying that Muslim countries would have to sit together and find solutions to the challenges.
‘The region is already facing threats, and Muslim countries will have to sit together to find solutions,’ the minister added.
