Lahore: Lahore Arts Council Alhamra organised a special workshop, ‘From Lines to Portraits’, at the Colin David Studio, introducing young participants to the creative possibilities of scribble portraiture under the guidance of renowned artist Numaira Javed.
The workshop provided participants with hands-on training in transforming random lines and abstract forms into expressive portraits. Numaira Javed demonstrated techniques related to observation, proportion, structure, facial expressions and composition, encouraging participants to explore unconventional forms of visual expression.
Through practical exercises, the participants learned the fundamentals of portrait-making and experimented with contemporary techniques under the artist’s guidance. The interactive session enabled them to translate observation into visual expression while developing their own creative approaches to portraiture.
Executive Director Lahore Arts Council Alhamra Muhammad Nawaz Gondal said providing young people with practical exposure to contemporary art forms remains an important part of Alhamra’s cultural and educational mandate.
He said training initiatives of the Alhamra Academy of Performing Arts are creating opportunities for young people to develop creative thinking and artistic skills through direct engagement with established practitioners.
He added that Alhamra regularly organizes specialized workshops in different artistic disciplines, enabling aspiring artists and art enthusiasts to learn directly from experienced professionals and refine their skills through practical training.
The free workshop attracted a large number of young participants, who actively engaged in the exercises and benefited from practical instruction in contemporary portrait-making techniques.
The workshop was part of Alhamra’s ongoing efforts to promote artistic learning, encourage experimentation and provide accessible opportunities for young people to develop their creative potential.
