Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif visited the residence of former MNA Mahmood Bashir Virk in Gujranwala and expressed condolences over his death.
The chief minister met the deceased’s wife, son, daughters and other family members, offered Fateha and prayed for the departed soul and patience for the bereaved family.
Paying tribute to Mahmood Bashir Virk’s services, Maryam Nawaz Sharif said his death had deprived Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Muhammad Nawaz Sharif of a loyal companion and her of the affection of a caring elder.
She said Mahmood Bashir Virk remained loyal to the PML-N through good and difficult times and his services for the party would always be remembered. She described him as a caring elder for the people and party workers of Gujranwala and a valuable asset.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif expressed the hope that his son Rashid Bashir Virk would carry forward his father’s political legacy. ‘The loss of parents can never be compensated for throughout one’s life,’ she said.
Rashid Bashir Virk and other family members thanked the chief minister for visiting them and said they would always remember the support extended by Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz Sharif during their difficult time.
During her visit, the chief minister also met members of parliament, party ticket-holders and other party leaders. She personally inquired about their well-being and discussed their suggestions and issues.
