Islamabad:Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Engineer Amir Muqam has praised Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif’s address to the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, saying it reflected the sentiments of Pakistan and the wider Muslim world.
Muqam said the address effectively presented Pakistan’s position on key issues and voiced the sentiments of the Pakistani nation, the Islamic world and people who hold deep reverence for the Two Holy Mosques.
He particularly appreciated the prime minister’s presentation of the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination at the UN General Assembly.
‘Pakistan reminded the international community of the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination,’ Muqam said, emphasizing that lasting peace in South Asia was not possible without resolving the Kashmir issue, said in a press released issued here.
He urged the United Nations to play its role in achieving a peaceful and just settlement of the Kashmir dispute.
Muqam said peace, dialogue and adherence to moral and international law were essential foundations for resolving conflicts.
He also highlighted Pakistan’s fraternal ties with Saudi Arabia, the sanctity of the Two Holy Mosques and Pakistan’s commitment to collective peace and security.
The minister said the unified position presented before the international community reflected the fundamental principles of Pakistan’s foreign policy.
