Assistant accounts officer held red-handed while taking bribe


Multan: The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Multan Region arrested an Assistant Accounts Officer red-handed while receiving a bribe of Rs20,000 in connection with the GP fund case of a retired officer.



According to an ACE spokesperson, the operation was conducted under the supervision of Regional Director ACE Multan Basharat Nabi and led by Deputy Director Legal Multan Zaheer Khan Sherwani, along with his team, under the supervision of a Judicial Magistrate.



The accused, Intizar Meo, Assistant Accounts Officer Multan, was caught receiving Rs20,000 in bribe money in connection with the GP Fund case of a retired officer. The marked currency notes were recovered from his possession and taken into custody in accordance with the law.



The complainant, Rehan Ahmed Babri, further alleged that the accused had previously received Rs30,000 through Kamran Gardezi, while other staffers had also allegedly received Rs30,000 as bribe. The complainant claimed that the GP Fund case had remained pending for nearly two years.



A case was registered against the accused while further investigations launched.
