Jazz launches affordable UAE Data Roaming bundles

Police arrest 6 absconders during operation

Attock: On the directions of District Police Officer (DPO), the district police on Monday nabbed 6 absconders in operation.

The police spokesman said, a Basal Police team arrested absconders including Naveed Aslam and Muhammad Ijaz.

The city police arrested outlaw, Zamrud Khan who had been wanted to police in various cases since 2021.

Meanwhile, Hassanabdal police apprehended criminals, Afsan alias Ahtasham and Sultan Mehmood .

A team of Hassanabdal Saddar Police Station arrested an absconder, Rustam Khan a resident of Shaya Hassanabdal.

LCCI, Lahore DC join hands to address key business issues

Lahore: The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) and Deputy Commissioner Office Lahore would take joint measures to resolve the issues being faced by the business community.

The consensus was developed during the visit of Deputy Commissioner Syed Musa Raza to the LCCI here on Monday. LCCI President Mian Abuzar Shad, Vice President Shahid Nazir Chaudhry, Convener of LCCI Standing Committee on City District Government Liaison Khawaja Sohail Mehmood Butt and Executive Committee members discussed a range of critical issues.

The deputy commissioner assured his support for resolving these concerns in a fair and timely manner.

LCCI President Mian Abuzar Shad and Vice President Shahid Nazir Chaudhry mentioned the ongoing parking problems in city markets including Hall Road, Brandreth Road, Akbari Mandi, Mall Road, Circular Road and Ichhra etc.

They said that Lahore's business hubs suffer from severe parking congestion, which hampers trade and creates inconvenience for customers. They urged the government to prioritize the construction of parking plazas in these areas. Furthermore, they recommended involvement of the private sector to expedite the process and where space is limited, rotary parking solutions should be explored.

LCCI office-bearers called for immediate action to address fire safety in Lahore's markets, citing fire incidents that resulted in substantial damage to businesses. They called for the installation of water hydrants in critical locations.

They said that it is crucial to prevent further losses by installing fire hydrants and ensuring adequate safety infrastructure in the markets. They urged the relevant authorities to take swift action in this regard.

Mian Abuzar Shad said that security in industrial estates and commercial areas remains a top priority. He called for enhanced law enforcement and the installation of Safe City cameras in areas lacking surveillance.

'A secure business environment is key to fostering economic growth. Strengthening security measures will not only protect businesses but also encourage investment in the region,' the LCCI office-bearers added.

Deputy Commissioner commended the business community's cooperation in supporting the government's initiatives to reduce smog levels in Lahore.

LCCI President Mian Abuzar Shad highlighted the chamber's role in organizing awareness sessions and partnering with organizations such as PBIT and the Environmental Protection Agency to implement smog-reduction measures.

5-Day training workshop on “Translation as a Science” begins at AIOU

Islamabad: The inaugural ceremony of a five-day training workshop on the theme "Translation as a Science" was held on Monday at Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU).

Participants from 12 different languages are receiving training in translation during this workshop. The event has been organized by the university's Center for English Language and Translation Studies in collaboration with the Forum for Language Initiatives.

The Executive Director of the Forum for Language Initiatives, Fakhruddin Akhunzada, was the guest of honor, while the event was presided over by the Dean of the Faculty of Arabic and Islamic Studies, Prof. Dr. Shah Mohyuddin Hashmi.

In his message, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nasir Mahmood stated that languages are the most effective tool for preserving and promoting the cultural heritage of any nation. He emphasized that the desire to keep languages alive cannot be fulfilled without understanding their importance.

He further noted that Allama Iqbal Open University has established the Center for English Language and Translation Studies to promote languages, and its services are commendable.

Other speakers highlighted the need to learn translation skills to nurture Pakistani traditions and culture.

They praised the efforts of Allama Iqbal Open University and the Forum for Language Initiatives in this regard.

The speakers pointed out that translation plays a central role in the rise and fall of civilizations, as it allows one nation to gain insight into the literary and intellectual wealth of another.

They added that translation not only enriches human knowledge at the linguistic level but also contributes to broadening intellectual horizons. Therefore, acquiring translation skills is essential for the advancement of knowledge.

The Director of the Center for English Language and Translation Studies, Dr. Ghulam Ali, hosted the event, while Lubna Umar performed the duties of stage secretary.

The ceremony was attended by the university's deans, registrar Raja Umar Yunus, principal officers, and faculty members.

Dr. Ghulam Ali outlined the objectives of the workshop and elaborated on the department's contributions to the promotion of languages.

He assured that, under the guidance of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nasir Mahmood, efforts for the preservation and promotion of languages would continue.

Crackdown launched against illegal fuel agencies in DI Khan

Dera ismail khan: The district administration has launched a crackdown against illegal fuel agencies in Dera Ismail Khan under 'Awami-Agenda' program of the Khyber Pakhutnkwha Chief Minister.

According to district administration, Assistant Commissioner Headquarters Muhammad Faseeh Ishaq Abbasi, following the instructions of Deputy Commissioner Ms. Sarah Rehman, paid a surprise visit to bypass road to inspect fuel agencies and sealed six illegal diesel agencies.

During inspection, the assistant commissioner asked the owners of that agencies to stop their business activities otherwise strict legal action would be taken against them.
