Female bank manager dies in tragic road accident

Abbottabad: In a tragic incident, Rozina Tariq, a 29-year-old manager of Askari Bank Jinnahabad, lost her life after her car plunged into a deep gorge near Harno Suri Bridge.

The accident occurred when Rozina's vehicle lost control on the bridge and fell hundreds of feet into the gorge.

Despite efforts to save her, she succumbed to severe injuries sustained in the crash.

Rescue 1122 Abbottabad shifted the dead body of the ill-fated to the district headquarters hospital and later handed over to the family after completion of medico-legal formalities.

The incident has left the local community in shock, with condolences pouring in for the young banker.

54th death anniversary of Abid Ali Abid being observed

Islamabad: The 54th death anniversary of renowned Urdu and Persian poet Abid Ali Abid is being observed on Monday.

Abid Ali Abid was born on 17 September 1906 at Dera Ismail Khan.

He graduated in law and joined the bar, but his literary inclination brought him to Lahore, where he studied Persian for his M. A. degree and started teaching Persian at Dayal Singh College, Lahore.

With a keen understanding of Persian and English languages and their literatures, he developed a broader perspective in his critical writings. He thus created a discourse that was new to Urdu criticism.

He was one of the initial drama writers and feature writers at the newly established Radio Pakistan Lahore in the late 1940s and 1950s.

Abid Ali Abid also wrote poetry, but it was his criticism that earned him a place of distinction. His works include Usool-e-Inteqaad, Adab Ke Asloob, Shama, Yad-e-Baiza, Suhaag, Talmihaat-e-Iqbal, Tilasmaat, Main Kabhi Ghazal Na Kehta, Baresham Ood and Inteqaad.

He died on 20 January 1971 in Lahore.

DC visits Danish School Hasilpur

Bahawalpur: Deputy Commissioner Bahawalpur Dr Farhan Farooq visited the Danish School in Hasilpur and inspected IT lab, library and art room of the girls campus.

He reviewed the educational facilities provided to the students. He observed

the paintings created by female students in the art room and praised their

creative abilities.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner visited the classrooms to assess the teaching and learning processes. On this occasion, Danish School Girls' campus Principal Shehla Farhan and the Danish School Boys' campus Principal Muhammad Akram Rana were present. The Deputy Commissioner met the students of Danish School who participated in the "Khelta Punjab" and annual sports competitions, commending their excellent performance.

Later, the Deputy Commissioner planted a sapling in the lawn of Danish School Girls' campus.

Trial under Army Act; hearing postpones for non-availability of Bench

Islamabad: Constitutional Petition regarding Trial of Civilians under Army Act was fixed for hearing today (Monday, January 20), but the proceedings were de listed from the Cause List due to non-availability of Justice Shahid Bilal Hasan, a member of the seven-member Constitutional Bench.

The Bench, headed by Justice Amin Ud Din Khan and comprising Justice Jamal Mandokhail, Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar, Justice Hasan Azhar Rizvi, Justice Musarrat Hilali, Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan and Justice Shahid Bilal Hasan was hearing the petition for nine consecutive days.

During the previous hearing, the Court directed Advocate Khwaja Haris, Counsel for the Ministry of Defense, one more time to conclude his arguments by today.

The case was fixed for hearing today and tomorrow (Monday and Tuesday) in the cause list but was de listed, on Sunday, and notified today that due to non-availability of one member of the Bench, Justice Shahid Bilal Hasan, the proceedings will not take place.

Khwaja Haris will continue his arguments before the court on next date of hearing to be fixed and announced later.

DPM/FM Dar terms Gwadar Int’l airport functioning as a historic
