Khyber police seize 64kg Hashish in anti-drug operations

Peshawar: In ongoing anti-drug operation, Khyber Bara Police have seized 64 kilograms of hashish in two separate actions.

Under the leadership of District Police Officer (DPO) Rai Mazhar Iqbal, a crackdown on drug smugglers is underway.

In the first operation, a checkpoint was set up at Al-Haj area, where SHO Bara Hardam Gul, along with officer Noor Saeed Khan, stopped and searched a suspicious car.

Upon inspection, 52 kilograms of hashish were found hidden in secret compartments of the vehicle. The driver, identified as Muhammad Akbar, was arrested, and the car was taken into police custody.

In a second operation, Incharge Takia Hameed Khan pursued motorcyclists during a checkpoint and recovered 12 kilograms of hashish. The suspects fled the scene, and raids are being conducted to ensure their capture.

The arrested suspect is undergoing further interrogation, while authorities continue to intensify efforts to curb drug smuggling in the region.

Cases have been registered, and the police reaffirmed their commitment to eliminating drug trafficking under the ongoing campaign.

Woman dies, another injured in road mishap

Muzaffargarh: A woman on Monday killed while another received injuries as two motorcycles collided each other on Muzaffagarh D.G Khan road.

The Rescue 1122 sources said, the motorcycles hit each others due to over speeding near Chowk, Qurashi on the road.

As a result, a woman identified as Asia 20 years died on the spot while Faqir Muhammad 45 got injured, they added.

The Rescue 1122 team shifted the body and injured to Indus Hospital.

21 dead, 1365 injured in Punjab road accidents

Lahore: At least 21 people died while 1,365 injured in 1293 road accidents in all 37 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. Out of them, 563 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 802 victims with minor injuries were treated on the spot by Rescue medical teams. Analysis showed those 774 drivers, 70 underage drivers, 139 pedestrians, and 473 passengers were among the victims of road crashes. Statistics show that 253 road accidents were reported in Lahore, due to which 273 people were affected, placing the provincial capital at top of the list followed by Faisalabad 115, with 118 victims and at third Multan with 69 road accidents and 73 victims. According to the data, 1096 motorbikes, 91 auto-rickshaws, 149 motorcars, 35 vans, 16 passenger buses, 41 truck and 115 other types of auto vehicles and slow-moving carts were involved in the road accidents.

Medicines Dispatched to Parachinar: Secretary Health

Peshawar: : Following the directives of Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and Health Advisor Ihtesham Ali, a significant consignment of emergency medicines has been dispatched to Upper Kurram, stated Secretary Health Adeel Shah on Sunday.

The medicines have been handed over to the Medical Superintendent (MS) of Parachinar to effectively manage the emergency situation, Secretary Health Adeel Shah confirmed.

A total of 4,000 kilograms of medicines worth 5 million PKR are being transported through two flights of the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's MI-17 helicopter, he added.

Due to persistent road blockages and extreme cold weather, the demand for medicines in Kurram has significantly increased, explained Secretary Health Adeel Shah.

The MS of Parachinar had previously informed the authorities about the anticipated shortage of medicines, prompting a timely response from the Health Department to ensure the provision of medicines before any crisis, he noted.

In addition to emergency supplies, routine medicines are also being dispatched via helicopter for both Upper and Lower Kurram, confirmed Secretary Health Adeel Shah.

Commissioner takes notice of Zoo situation

Bahawalpur: Commissioner, Bahawalpur Division, Ms Musarrat Jabeen here on Sunday visited the Zoo and inspected condition of animals there. It is pertinent to mention here that few days back, news reports were published and aired in a section of media that a Bengal tiger was found suffering from cataract at Bahawalpur Zoo. The seven-year-old Bengal tiger had been suffering from eye disease for the last four years and he had lost his eye due to cataract. The Commissioner along with Deputy Commissioner Dr Farhan Farooque arrived at Bahawalpur Zoo and inspected the condition of animals, quality of food being provided to animals and cleanliness situation. She directed the authorities concerned to bring further improvement in facilities being provided to visitors. She also directed the doctors at the Bahawalpur Zoo to regularly medically examine, besides taking immediate steps to medically treat any animal if it was found infected with any type of disease.

IG Punjab released another 3.96 million rupees for treatment of employees

Lahore: Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, is firmly dedicated to the health welfare of police employees and their families. In this regard, an additional fund of Rs. 3.96 million has been released for the treatment of employees and their families suffering from serious illnesses. Punjab Police spokesperson shared the details, according that constable Muhammad Atif and driver constable Fayyaz Ullah had been granted Rs 500,000 each for major surgeries. Constable Zafarullah had been provided Rs. 250,000 for the treatment of his wife, and constable Adnan Malik has received Rs. 250,000 for his daughter's treatment. The wife of martyred Inspector Muhammad Rafiq and ASI Sadiq Haider have been granted Rs. 200,000 each for medical expenses. Constable Tariq Javed and retired constable Muhammad Yousaf have collectively been provided Rs. 280,000 for their treatment. Constable Sohail Ahmed, retired constable Sher Baz, and constable Qamar Mehmood have been granted Rs. 100,000 each for their m edical expenses. Retired Inspector Irshad Ullah, Constable Shahbaz Ali, and Traffic Assistant Faiz-ur-Rehman have each been allocated Rs. 100,000 for treatment.

Sub-Inspector Abdul Rauf, Traffic Assistant Muhammad Jahangir, and constable Fakhar Hussain have also been granted Rs. 100,000 each for their medical expenses. Constable Ghulam Mustafa and constable Anwar Hussain have each been given Rs. 100,000 for their treatment. ASI Sajid Ali, constable Muhammad Amin, constable Muhammad Ramzan, and Naib Qasid Muhammad Yousaf have collectively been granted Rs. 260,000 for their medical needs. Similarly, retired constable Farzand Ali, gardener Zakir Hussain, and late constable Ahmad Yar's family have been provided a total of Rs. 200,000 for the treatment of themselves and their families. Constable Muhammad Sohail, the widow of late Office Superintendent Imran Ali, constable Asif Shehzad, and the widow of late Sub-Inspector Karamat Ali have collectively been provided Rs. 300,000 for their treatment.

IG Punjab approved the disbursement of the above-mentioned funds after scrutiny by the Medical Financial Assistance Committee. He said that under MOUs with various institutions, employees are also being provided with best modern medical facilities.
