Sialkot: The city traffic police took action against 251,378 vehicles and imposed a fine of Rs 17,994,100 during the last year. According to a report, 53,003 vehicles were impounded and 500 drivers were arrested while 91 licenses and 39 vehicles route permits were suspended. To improve traffic flow, a total of 18,093 vehicles were lifted while taking action against wrong parking. The special anti-encroachment squad took action against illegal encroachments across the city and registered 350 cases against shopkeepers. For the convenience of people, the facility of driving test was introduced at tehsil level and a total of 7,0297 licenses were issued in Sialkot during the last year.
2,000 Liters of adulterated milk discarded on Sheikhupura road
Lahore: Punjab Food Authority discarded 2,000 liters of adulterated milk during inspections on Sheikhupura Road here on Tuesday.
Acting on the orders of DG Food Authority, dairy safety teams tested over 6,500 liters of milk from 50 vehicles at early morning checkpoints discarding substandard milk on the spot.
Adulterated milk, intended for supply to Lahore was found to have water contamination, reduced fat levels and substandard LR (Lactometer Reading) and SNF (Solid-Not-Fat) content. Strict legal action is being initiated against those involved in its production and distribution.
DG Asim Javed stated that Punjab Food Authority is implementing international standards to ensure traceability and safety in milk supply chain across Punjab. He reiterated the PFA commitment to eliminating adulteration, warning traders of strict penalties and business closures for violations.
Dairy safety teams continue daily monitoring and inspections to safeguard public health and maintain food quality standards. Citizens are encouraged to report food related violations to PFA helpline 1223.
KP becomes first province to repay debt: Muzzammil Aslam
Peshawar: Advisor to Chief Minister on Finance, Muzzammil Aslam said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has made history by becoming the first province to repay its debt.
In a statement, he said that a first installment of Rs. 30 billion has been transferred, with an additional Rs. 40 billion to follow soon.
He said that Rs. 40 billion has been separately allocated for pensions and gratuity since the formation of Chief Minister Ali Amin's government.
The provincial treasury now holds sufficient funds to cover three months of salaries, overcoming earlier challenges of timely payments.
Muzzammil Aslam credited the achievement to the leadership of CM Ali Amin, the cabinet, officials, and public support.

ATC extends interim bail of Mussarat Cheema, Jamshed Cheema in May-9 cases
Lahore: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Tuesday extended the interim bail of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders Mussarat Jamshed Cheema and Jamshed Iqbal Cheema till January 29 in 11 cases related to the May 9 riots.
ATC Judge Manzer Ali Gill conducted proceedings on the bail applications of the PTI leaders and sought arguments from the counsel for the parties on the next date of the hearing.
Mussarat Jamshed Cheema and Jamshed Iqbal Cheema also appeared before the court upon the expiry of their interim bail and marked their attendance.
The leaders had approached the court for bail in cases related to Jinnah House attack, Askari Tower attack, torching of vehicles near Rahat Bakery, and other incidents.
Elders who refused to sign Kurram Peace Agreement arrested
Peshawar: Three elders who refused to sign the Kurram Peace Agreement have been arrested, said the district administration on Tuesday.
According to the administration, Syed Rehman, Saifullah, and Karim Khan have not yet signed the peace agreement, which led to their arrest.
The district administration clarified that the decisions of the Apex Committee and the provincial government will strictly be enforced to ensure law and order in the district.
On the other hand, cases have also been registered against those who staged a sit-in and blocked roads outside the Parachinar Press Club.
Officials from the district administration stated that all routes will be reopened, and the flow of traffic will be restored at all cost.
