Peshawar:The Post Secondary Education Reform Unit (PERU) in collaboration with Quality Assurance HED Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

and Higher Education Development Project (HEDP) of Higher Education Commission at HEC Regional Centre Peshawar here on Saturday conducted a two-day training workshop titled "Equipping teachers to foster learning skills in students".

The workshop was attended by 42 college teachers from 11 colleges in KP.

The main objective of the training was to train teachers in information management skills, communication skills and problem solving skills.

Contents of the workshop were been prepared in the light of a national study conducted with undergraduate students which revealed serious learning gaps in students' skills' repertoire in the aforementioned areas.

Resource persons for the two-day workshop were Prof. Dr. Kashif Suhail Malik, consultant IIUI Islamabad and Dr. Karim Ullah from IMSciences Peshawar.

The opening ceremony was graced by Dr. Imran Ullah Marwat ( Director Quality Assurance HED KP), Nasir Shah DG HEC regional center Peshawar while the closing ceremony was graced by Prof. Dr. Shafiq ur Rehman, Advisor Quality Assurance HED KP Peshawar.

Teachers were equipped on three important learning skills through various activities. These teachers were directed to prepare students of their respective colleges in the mentioned skills.

The workshop was facilitated and coordinated by Shahrukh Irshad, Assistant Program Specialist, Post-Secondary Education Reform Unit (PERU) at HEC Islamabad.

Larkana:The funeral prayers of intellectual, renowned writer, poet and former General Secretary of Sindhi Adabi Sangat, Dr. Zulfiqar Siyal, who died in Karachi priviate on Friday late night, were offered on Satuarday at Anwarabad (Fareedabad).

A large number of people from all walks of life and prominent literary figures attended the funeral prayers.

Burewala:Fourteen residents of tehsil Burewala lost their lives, and more than 30 sustained serious injuries in separate road accidents while traveling to Sehwan Sharif.

According to official sources, a van carrying devotees collided with a truck near Ranipur, resulting in four fatalities. In another accident near Nawabshah, a speeding bus overturned, claiming ten more lives and leaving over 30 injured.

The deceased, as per the details issued by Pir Abdul Qadir Shah Jeelani Medical Hospital Gambat, include Nazir, Atta Muhammad, Shahid, Faisal, Babar Ali, Hameed Ali, Asghar Kaka, Shehzad, Yaseen, and Rani Bibi. The injured include Naziran Bibi, Salman Shehzad, Imtiaz Ali, Zafar Iqbal, Akram, Mukhtar, Nazir, Islam, Ahmed Bakhsh, Tanveer Bibi, Jannat Bibi, Riaz, Waziran, Bilawal, Sajjad, Iftikhar, Rehan Ali, Abbas Ali, Basheer, Asif, Nazir, Ikram, Abdul Hameed, Zafar, Qamar, Nazir, Farhad, Natasha Fatima, Abdul Ghafoor, Riaz, Nasir, Pathani Bibi, Mubarak Ali, Abdul Rauf, Waheeda, and Zareena Bibi.

Most of the deceased and injured belonged to Habib Colony and Masoom Shah Colony in Burewala.

Bahawalpur:Representatives of the University of Cambridge have arrived at the Islamia University Bahawalpur and held a meeting with the Vice Chancellor here.

According to a spokesman for the Islamia University Bahawalpur, the project team of the University of Cambridge comprising Ms. Afifa Sana Khan and Mr. Jack arrived at the Islamia University Bahawalpur and held a meeting with Vice Chancellor Prof-Dr. Muhammad Kamran. Prof-Dr. Muhammad Amjad, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Islamia University Bahawalpur also attended the meeting.

The VC was informed that the project team of the University of Cambridge had been extending its cooperation in the field of research and project training to researchers in Bahawalpur region. The VC thanked the University of Cambridge for providing special technology devices for students and researchers of IUB.

Larkana:Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Larkana Nasir Aftab on Saturday directed the SSPs of all five districts to conduct general hold-up and blockades at all entry and exits points to control law and order situation.

During the blockades and general hold-up, hundreds of individuals and vehicles/motorcycles across the range districts were verified on the spot using the CRI system and search app.

Police in all five districts conducted searches of vehicles at key points, verified individuals and set up blockade points.

Heavy police presence, led by SDPOs, SHOs and unit in-charges, carried out the checks.
