Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Workers Welfare Board (WWB) has officially approved the regularization of its contract employees in a unanimous decision.

The board members have also directed the relevant authorities to review the status of currently employed contract workers and, if they meet the required criteria, include them in the regularization process.

The decision was made during a meeting chaired by KP Minister for Labour, Fazal Shakoor Khan. The meeting was attended by WWB Chairman Mian Adil Iqbal, Secretary Muhammad Tufail, Additional Advocate General, and other officials. Several board matters were discussed, and members provided their input and suggestions.

Additionally, the board approved the immediate evacuation of a bungalow on Shami Road, Peshawar, terminating its current lease and initiating full recovery. The meeting also explored establishing an Information Technology Wing within WWB to improve efficiency.

A detailed discussion took place regarding employees' house rent policies, and the possibility of relaxing restrictions on filling vacant positions within the board was also considered. Minister Fazal Shakoor Khan emphasized that reforms are essential for improving WWB operations.

He further stated that income generated from shops in labour colonies should be reinvested into enhancing facilities for workers and supporting their children's education.

Sargodha: Judge and Chairman Drug Court Sargodha Syed Khalid Javed Bukhari awarded four-year rigorous imprisonment (RI), along with Rs. 40 million fine, to a man for running an illegal drugs business, here on Thursday.

According to the prosecution, a case was registered against accused Asif Aziz, a resident of Shahpur, for running an illegal drugs business. The case was registered on a report of Deputy Drug Controller Faheem Zia.

After completion of arguments, the judge announced the verdict on Thursday. The convict was arrested on the court premises.

Peshawar: In a major operation, Khwaja Wais police, district Charsadda on Friday thwarted a significant terror plot, seizing a large quantity of explosives, including rocket shells, fuses, and cartridges.

According to police spokesman, authorities received information about a suspicious sack lying under a bridge near Sheikh Shanda Baba's tomb on Political Road, within the jurisdiction of Khwaja Wais police station.

Upon receiving the tip-off, police, accompanied by the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS), rushed to the scene and inspected the suspicious sack.

During the operation, police recovered nine rocket launcher shells, 13 fuses, five cartridges, and 40 ring cartridges.

The Bomb Disposal Squad successfully neutralized the explosives, preventing a potential disaster in the area.

Following the recovery, police have intensified search operations in the vicinity to prevent any further sabotage attempts.

Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to law enforcement to help maintain peace and security.

Peshawar: Justice SM Atiq Shah on Friday took the oath of office as the Acting Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court.

The oath was administered by Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Karim Kundi here at Governor House.

The oath-taking ceremony was attended by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sardar Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, along with other notable dignitaries.

Judges of the Peshawar High Court, lawyers, and various other individuals also participated in the ceremony.

Sargodha: Commissioner Sargodha Division Jahanzeb Awan visited the Thalassemia and Hemophilia Centre at Hilal-e-Ahmer Hospital to review the facilities provided for blood transfusions to thalassemia patients.

During the visit, he inspected the laboratory and various departments to ensure the best possible care for the children.

In collaboration with the Rahmat-ul-Lil-Alameen Foundation and Hilal-e-Ahmer Hospital administration, life-saving medicines worth millions of rupees were distributed free of cost to children from Jhang and other nearby districts.

The commissioner interacted with the young patients, inquired about their well-being, and expressed compassion towards them.

Speaking at the event, Commissioner Jahanzeb Awan lauded the efforts of traders, philanthropists, students, and social organizations for their generous donations of blood and medicines.

He emphasized that their contributions are helping sustain the lives of these children.

He also assured full support from the divisional and district administration for such humanitarian initiatives and prayed for the health and well-being of the affected children.

It was highlighted that the Hilal-e-Ahmer Hospital's Thalassemia Center provides free blood transfusions to 450 children every month and supplies iron-chelation pumps and medications worth millions of rupees to 39 children to help manage their condition.

The event was attended by Additional Commissioner Coordination Rai Yasir Bhatti, Amjad Mahmood Bhatti, Muhammad Naveed Anwar, Nasir Sehgal, Sheikh Nadeem Khawar, along with philanthropists, parents, and other dignitaries.

Sargodha: Shahpur city police conducted raids in different areas of the town and arrested four people for possessing illegal weapons and displaying them in certain cases.

According to a police spokesman, those arrested were identified as Imran, Abdullah, Saleem, and Waleed. The police recovered three 30-bore pistols, four guns, bullets and a dagger from them.
