Dera ismail khan: Rescue 1122 provided services in a total of 202 emergencies during the last week.

According to the weekly performance report issued here on Monday, the total emergencies include 143 medical, 41 road accidents, 10 fire eruptions, four fighting and four other incidents.

During this period, it said that the control room received several emergency calls and Rescue 1122 teams promptly responded and provided timely services to citizens.

It added that the district's emergency service was equipped with all latest facilities to provide prompt services to citizens during emergencies.

Hyderabad: In an effort to promote reading habits and strengthen academic engagement, the Institute of Sindhology and Allama I.I. Qazi Library at the University of Sindh, Jamshoro has announced a three-day literary and educational book fair from February 26 to 28, 2025.

According to a statement issued by the university spokesperson, the book fair aims to inspire students, teachers and the general public to develop a love for reading, gain access to books on various subjects and encourage literary and academic discussions.

Renowned authors, scholars and publishers will participate in the event, where newly published books will be launched. While the attendees will be able to interact with writers and scholars in intellectual discussions, so as to further strengthen the literary and educational environment of the university.

Director of the Institute of Sindhology Ghulam Murtaza Siyal emphasized that a strong reading culture was the foundation of intellectual excellence, and this book fair will help students to adopt reading habits and critical thinking.

Meanwhile, the acting Vice-Chancellor of the Sindh University Professor Dr. Khalil-ur-Rehman Khambati welcomed the initiative, stating that students, researchers and book enthusiasts should take advantage of this unique opportunity to deepen their connection with knowledge and literature.

Rawalpindi: Rawalpindi District Police on the directives of a City Police Officer, Rawalpindi are making efforts to control kite flying and managed to arrest a kite seller on recovery of over 2000 kites and 40 kite flying string rolls, said a police spokesman here on Monday.

He informed, that Waris Khan police arrested a kite seller namely Muhammad Safian and recovered 2000 kites and 40 kite flying string rolls.

A case has been registered against the accused and further investigation is under process.

Superintendent of Police, Rawal directed the police teams to accelerate operations against kite sellers and flyers.

Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Police Animal Rescue Center on Monday saved a bitch with its legs tied together and its puppies from being run over by a train.

According to a Rawalpindi Police spokesman, the police received information that someone had tied up the bitch and thrown it along with its children on the railway track.

A team of the Animal Rescue Center immediately rushed to the spot and freed the mute animal from the painful confinement and shifted it to the Center for treatment.

The spokesman said that the timely action by the Animal Rescue Center had saved hapless animals from being crushed to death.

Dir lower: In line with the public agenda of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Khan Gandapur and under the special directives of Deputy Commissioner Lower Dir, Arif Khan, a special Ramazan Mubarak cleanliness drive has been officially launched in multiple tehsils of the district.

According to the office of the deputy commissioner, Assistant Commissioner Samarbagh, Zeeshan Najeeb, along with the Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) and sanitation staff, formally initiated the campaign at the TMA Building in Samarbagh.

The drive will focus on cleaning public spaces, markets, and other areas across three tehsils in Samarbagh.

Similarly, Assistant Commissioner Lal Qila, Baqir Ali, along with TMA sanitation staff, launched the campaign in Lal Qila Tehsil.

Under this initiative, garbage will be collected from marketplaces and public areas to ensure a cleaner environment during the holy month.

The campaign aims to promote hygiene and cleanliness across the district, ensuring a healthier environment for residents during Ramadan.
