Faisalabad: Commissioner Maryam Khan has ordered measures on an urgent basis for the posting of cardiac doctors and surgeons in Faisalabad Institute of Cardiology.

Chairing a meeting here Monday, she said that all necessary machinery for the cardiac unit, new OPD block, staff residences, extension of the emergency and pathology lab would be provided to the hospital.

She directed for sending a summary of shortfalls in the cardiac hospital to higher authorities through the Commissioner Office. The Commissioner said that FIC would be made a champion in the provision of treatment facilities to patients suffering from cardiac related diseases.

She directed the management to utilize resources to keep the machinery functional and diagnosis of diseases should be available at a minimum fee to people.

Additional Commissioner Coordination Amir Raza, Executive Director, Medical Superintendent and others were present in the meeting.

According to a statement issued by the university spokesperson, the book fair aims to inspire students, teachers and the general public to develop a love for reading, gain access to books on various subjects and encourage literary and academic discussions.

Renowned authors, scholars and publishers will participate in the event, where newly published books will be launched. While the attendees will be able to interact with writers and scholars in intellectual discussions, so as to further strengthen the literary and educational environment of the university.

Director of the Institute of Sindhology Ghulam Murtaza Siyal emphasized that a strong reading culture was the foundation of intellectual excellence, and this book fair will help students to adopt reading habits and critical thinking.

Meanwhile, the acting Vice-Chancellor of the Sindh University Professor Dr. Khalil-ur-Rehman Khambati welcomed the initiative, stating that students, researchers and book enthusiasts should take advantage of this unique opportunity to deepen their connection with knowledge and literature.

Faisalabad: The Water and Sanitation Agency has completed a project of enhancing pumping capacity of disposal stations at Chakera and Dijkot.

Now, both disposal stations were functional with full capacity from Sunday and facilitating the adjacent localities of Jhang road, Narwala road and Jail road. Managing Director WASA Amir Aziz said here Monday that two pumps of 40-40 cusec have been installed at Chakera disposal stations while two pumps of 10 cusec and 6 cusec have been added to the Dijkot road disposal station. He said that the project had been completed in a record time period.

Peshawar: A woman in Dir Lower had given birth to five babies at once, and both the mother and the newborns were in perfect health.

Dr. Abbas, the Deputy Medical Superintendent (DMS) of Timergara Teaching Hospital told media on Monday the woman, a resident of Shago, delivered two sons and three daughters.

Dr. Abbas confirmed that all five babies and their mother are completely healthy and doing well.

The father, Siraj Khan, expressed his happiness and gratitude to Allah Almighty for the blessing of five children.

It is worth mentioning that just last month, a woman in Bannu also gave birth to quintuplets.

Peshawar: The fourth annual edition of the Dosti Peshawar Literature Festival was set to begin on February 11 at Peshawar University and would continue until February 22.

The festival will bring together renowned literary, academic, and social personalities from across Pakistan.

The Area Study Centre at Peshawar University will serve as the festival's main venue, hosting literary sessions, poetry recitals, panel discussions, book launches, and cultural activities in multiple languages.

Additionally, regional chapters in various universities will promote literary dialogue beyond the main venue.

The festival will ensure representation of Urdu, English, Pashto, Hindko, and other regional languages, celebrating Pakistan's diverse literary heritage.

According to the organizers, the event aims to promote knowledge, literature, and a culture of reading, especially among the youth.
