Multan: Seven children were taken into protective custody, here on Sunday.

According to Child Protection and Welfare Bureau (CPWB) Spokesperson Naveed Mukhtar, the children taken into custody included beggars, runaways, lost kids, etc.

Rescue operations were conducted at various locations, with additional support from the Child Help Line (1121), which received calls regarding children in need of protection. The Bureau distributed awareness pamphlets to educate the public about child protection and prevention of child trafficking.

Bahawalpur: Drivers have been urged to install back lights in their vehicles to reduce the risk of road accidents.

This was stressed during a seminar, organised by the Motorway and National Highway Police to raise awareness, particularly among drivers using motorways and national highways.

Addressing the seminar, Chief Patrolling Officer Syed Rizwan Shah said that the absence of back lights was a major cause of accidents. He stressed that all vehicles, especially those traveling on highways, must have properly functioning back lights to enhance road safety.

He advised that tractor-trolleys and heavy loader vehicles should stay in the left lane and must have reflective yellow belts on the rear to ensure visibility for fast-approaching vehicles. Additionally, he reminded drivers to always overtake from the right side rather than the left and urged extra caution when driving in smog or fog conditions.

Tank: The district administration Tank is taking steps to extend relief to citizens by ensuring availability of edible items at affordable prices for the citizens.

As part of such efforts, Additional Assistant Commissioner Revenue Saif Ullah Jan here on Sunday made a surprise visit to the bazaar and checked essential commodities at various shops.

The inspection was carried out under the directives of the provincial government, during which the prices and weights of different items were checked at 15 shops.

The ADC directed the shopkeepers to display price lists prominently and asked them to sell commodities at the officially prescribed prices.

He also instructed them to avoid malpractices such as overcharging and artificial shortage etc.

Several shopkeepers were given warnings and instructed to make necessary improvements regarding prices and weights.

Peshawar: A convoy of 120 vehicles carrying relief goods has been dispatched from Tehsil Thall to Kurram and Parachinar.

According to the district administration on Sunday, the relief supplies include food items and other essential commodities.

It stated that the convoy was sent after clearance from security forces. Security personnel and representatives from the district administration are accompanying the convoy, which departed from Thall Cantonment towards Parachinar.

Deputy Commissioner Gohar Zaman confirmed that the convoy, consisting of both small and large vehicles, includes food supplies, medicines, and daily essentials.

Meanwhile, District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Khalid assured that strict security arrangements have been made for the convoy, with security personnel deployed at various points along the route.

Business leader Syed Nijat mentioned that another convoy comprising over 100 vehicles carrying food supplies has also departed from Hangu to Parachinar. These include trucks loaded with food, medicines and daily essentials.

Official sources reported that today's convoy does not include fuel tankers or gas cylinder transport vehicles. A separate convoy for petroleum and gas supplies is expected to depart tomorrow.

Layyah: A mysterious illness claimed the lives of three children in three days in Chak No. 156, near Laddhana, Layyah.

The deceased belonged to the poor community. Following media reports, Deputy Commissioner Layyah Amira Baidar and CEO Health Layyah took immediate notice of the situation.

A team of doctors, led by Deputy District Health Officers (DDHO) Dr. Mursaleen from Layyah and Dr. Nabeel Ahmad Gadara from Chobara, visited the affected families. Speaking to the media, Dr. Mursaleen stated that the health department had already visited the affected families earlier on the orders of the Deputy Commissioner and CEO Health Layyah.

He noted that based on symptoms and reported conditions, the illness appeared to be a viral disease. The affected families had migrated from Taunsa Sharif, and their children lacked immunization records. After a thorough examination, the medical team provided medicines and advised preventive measures. The families were instructed to avoid physical contact, wash affected children's bedding and dry it in sunlight, and ensure proper hand washing before and after meals.

Dr. Mursaleen further advised the families to immediately contact the nearest Rural Health Center (RHC) in case of any complications. If necessary, local hospitals would arrange ambulance services to transfer patients to the District Headquarters Hospital.

To determine the cause of the illness, blood samples from the affected children were sent for laboratory testing. Meanwhile, health officials checked the immunization records of other children in the area. Those who had already received vaccines were given booster doses, while unvaccinated children received the required immunizations

Sargodha: The oath-taking ceremony for newly-elected office-bearers of the Sargodha Press Club (SPC) was held on Sunday, attended by political, social, and business figures.

Punjab Minister for Zakat and Ushr Rana Manawar Ghous Khan was the chief guest, while former MNA Chaudhry Hamid Hamid was the guest of honor. Office-bearers sworn in included President Abdul Hanan Chaudhry, Senior Vice President Asjad Munir Chaudhry, Vice President Imtiaz Chaudhry, General Secretary Sheikh Muhammad Rizwan, and other executive members.

Rana Manawar Ghous Khan praised the club's role in promoting ethical journalism and announced that a summary for a journalist colony in Sargodha had been prepared under Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz's directive. He promised swift approval and additional grants for the Press Club.

Chaudhry Hamid Hamid pledged his support, stating he would seek a Rs. 10 million grant from PM Shehbaz Sharif and accompany journalists to Islamabad to expedite the funding process.

Newly-elected leaders expressed gratitude and vowed to uphold journalistic integrity while ensuring inclusivity and teamwork within the Press Club.
