Peshawar: Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Fazal Moqeem Khan urged the provincial government and relevant authorities to implement the Safe City project.

The SCCI chief also called for framing business-friendly policies and proactive steps to ease of doing business and facilitating the trading community.

Such initiatives that would create a gulf between the business community, local administration and police department and other authorities should be avoided, Moqeem asserted.

The chamber president furthermore asked to end unwarranted crackdowns and collection of double taxes while it is dire need to implement a comprehensive plan for traffic management, cleanliness and building close liaison and coordination between district administration and police department.

Fazal Moqeem was addressing during a meeting of traders upon visit of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Peshawar Capt (retd) Sarmad Saleem Akram and SSP Operations Peshawar Masood Bangash here at the chamber house.

The SCCI president informed meeting regarding concerns of traders on increasing incidents of crime, snatching on gunpoint, robbery, traffic mess and poor cleanliness in city, imposition of tax on billboards, encroachments, and mushroom growth of petrol 'dabba' stations, drug dealers and other issues.

In replying to various queries of the participants, DC Peshawar Sarmad Saleem Akram and SSP Operations Peshawar Masood Bangash assured that steps would be taken to ensure improve law and order, traffic system, provision of secure and peaceful atmosphere to business community, framing policies in consultation with the chamber, dismantling illegal structures and resolving other related issues.

DC Peshawar said a comprehensive traffic management plan is ready, and a briefing will be given to traders in this regard in a few days. He said district administration is keen to provide all facilities and relief at every level.

Multan: Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Friday discarded 2500kg fungus infected preserves and other items.

According to a spokesperson,PFA conducted an operation at two beverage plants and a pickles and preserves production unit near Musa Pak and Muslim College.

During the inspections,2,500 kg of fungus-infested preserves,expired tamarind,200 liters of expired juice and 50 liters of unidentified flavors were seized and destroyed on the spot.

The units were found guilty of maintaining poor hygiene and using substandard raw materials.

A fine amounting of Rs.350,000 was imposed on both food business operators for violation.

Director General (DG) PFA Muhammad Asim Javed, emphasized that no-tolerance policy against health-endangering practices will continue.

He urged citizens to report such malpractices on the PFA helpline at 1223.

Rawalpindi: Admiral M Nazmul Hassan, Chief of Naval Staff Bangladesh, who is on an official visit to Pakistan, called on General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, NI (M), Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) here at Joint Staff Headquarters.

The discussion centered on evolving regional environments, and mutual strategic interests, including maritime collaboration and explored ways to enhance bilateral defence cooperation. Both military leaders underscored the importance of collaboration in promoting peace and stability, said an ISPR news release.

Sargodha: A two-day student skills exhibition was organised at the Government College of Technology for Women, Sargodha on Friday.

The event featured stalls showcasing garments designed by trainee students, along with displays from the Computer Science, Horticulture, Beautician, and Food Cooking departments. The exhibition was officially inaugurated by President Sargodha Chamber of Commerce and Industry Khawaja Qayyum. Executive Member SCCI Shazia Noreen Bangash and others were also present.

Visitors highly appreciated the students' craftsmanship and purchased garments at affordable prices.

Talking to reporter, Principal Government College of Technology for Women Noreen Naz said that the institution holds such exhibitions annually to promote students' skills. She said that learning such skills not only helps female students support their families financially but also contributes to the country's economic growth.

Rawalpindi: Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu Chief of the Air Staff Pakistan Air Force (PAF) concluded a successful visit to the Sultanate of Oman, where he engaged in fruitful discussions with the civil and military leadership.

The Air Chief received full military honors, underscoring the importance of the visit in enhancing bilateral relations, said an ISPR news release.

In these meetings, the Chief of the Air Staff called on General Sultan Mohammed Al Nu'amani, Minister of the Royal Office of Oman, Air Vice Marshal Khamis Hammad Al Ghafri, Commander of the Royal Air Force of Oman, Vice Admiral Abdullah Khamis Al Raisi, Chief of Staff of the Sultan's Armed Forces and Dr. Mohammed bin Nasser al Za'abi, Secretary-General of the Omani Ministry of Defence.

Chief of the Air Staff highlighted that both countries have always supported each other in testing times and Pakistan Air Force is dedicated to continuing the provision of training and support for the Royal Air Force of Oman from basic-to-tactical level training to the aircrew of Oman.

During the meetings, the leadership of the Sultanate of Oman showed keen interest in the National Aerospace Science and Technology Park and expressed a strong desire for enhanced industrial and technological collaboration.

The Omani leadership lauded the Air Chief's visionary leadership in enhancing the force's indigenous capabilities, which have significantly bolstered the defence prowess of Pakistan.

The leadership of the Sultanate of Oman expressed a deep desire to expand the existing Air Force to Air Force collaboration underscoring the importance of joint bilateral and multi-lateral aerial exercises, exchange visits and knowledge-sharing platforms.

Acknowledging the participation of the contingent of the Royal Air Force of Oman as observers in Exercise Indus Shield-2024, the Omani leadership expressed deep appreciation for the innovative multi-domain airpower employment contours demonstrated during the exercise, particularly the integration of niche and disruptive technologies across the domains of Space, Cyber and Electronic Warfare.
