Peshawar:Advisor to Chief Minister on Health, Ihtesham Ali, made an unannounced visit to the Provincial Health Services Academy (PHSA) to review the mandatory four-month training program for management cadre doctors, required for promotion from Grade 18 to Grade 19.

During the visit, he interacted with trainee doctors and assessed the progress of their training.

Director General PHSA, Dr. Abdul Waheed, briefed the advisor on the academy's overall functioning and the ongoing training initiatives under the Human Capital Investment Program.

The advisor also inspected the construction activities underway at the facility and emphasized the critical role of PHSA in enhancing the capacity of the province's healthcare workforce.

Focusing on Strengthening of PHSA, the advisor stressed the need to align PHSA with modern standards and pledged to strengthen it both financially and administratively.

While Addressing Student Issues the advisors directed Immediate resolution of nurses regarding training and tasked DG PHSA to expedite all formalities to resolve administrative hurdles.

Ihtisham directed the launch of a one-year paid internship program for graduates, Introduction of an evening shift for the BS program, Filling the staff shortage on a priority basis, Recovery of encroached PHSA properties and Operationalization of the newly constructed Bajaur Nursing College at the earliest.

The health advisor instructed the digitization of healthcare training and emphasized ensuring merit-based admissions in nursing colleges. He reiterated the government's commitment to raising the quality of healthcare education and training, which would directly translate into improved healthcare delivery for the public.

The visit underscored the provincial government's focus on strengthening healthcare infrastructure, addressing staff concerns, and modernizing medical training to meet evolving challenges.

Sheikhupura:Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Education, Naeem Abbas Rana stressed the importance of character building in schools, highlighting its significance in shaping students into responsible citizens.

According to Education department, during a surprise visit to Government High School Kalu on Thursday, accompanied by District Education Officer Secondary Fazal Elahi and District Education Officer Elementary Bakhtiar Ahmad, CEO Education Rana emphasized that teachers play a vital role in building students' character alongside their education.

"Character building becomes the capital of their life, enabling them to play a positive role as useful citizens of society," He said.

He also said that the importance of language skills, particularly English, in connecting knowledge and facilitating global communication.

The CEO presented medals to outstanding teachers, including Mirza Muhammad Yaqoob, Muhammad Aslam, Muhammad Nawaz, Muhammad Amjad, Muhammad Amir Rana, Faraz Mohsin Umar, and students who excelled in scouting and sports.

He also inaugurated the newly renovated principal's office.

Naeem Abbas praised the school principal, Rana Ehsanul Haq, for maintaining high educational standards, discipline, and renovating the school within a short period.

The visit aimed to encourage teachers and students to strive for excellence and promote a positive learning environment.

Peshawar:KP Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education, Faisal Khan Tarakai has said that the purpose of appointing School Leaders is ensure the quality education and their problems would be resolved on priority basis.

Replying the queries of the members of the KP Assembly Standing Committee on Elementary and Secondary Education here on Thursday, the provincial minister told the panel that the provincial government has decided extension in the contract of the School Leaders and except monitoring the quality of education, they are not being given any other responsibility.

He said that the department has directed to present proposals for their better future.

The meeting of the standing committee was held with Chairman Taj Mohammad Tarand in the chair. Besides, the provincial minister, members including Abdul Salam Afridi, Mian Sharafat Ali, Arif Ahmadzai, Adnan Khan and Sobia Shahid, , the Special Secretary Qaiser Alam, Additional Secretary Maqbook Khan, Director E and SE Samina Altaf, Director DPD Mohammad Mazar and other higher authorities also attended the meeting.

Questions, problems raised in the previous meeting and steps taken by the department were highlighted and the officials of the education department gave sequential answers to the questions asked by the committee members.

The committee was told that the main objective of appointing regarding the transfer of ministerial staff, the committee was informed that a period of one and a half years has been fixed. Employees who have been at a station for one and a half years will be transferred immediately. Initially, these transfers will take place in three districts and soon the ministerial staff of all districts will be transferred.

In response to a question, the Minister said that a scholarship programme has been started for the improvement of education in districts where the literacy rate is low, especially in the merged districts, so as to attract more students.

Regarding the Accelerated Learning Programme (ALP), the provincial minister said that this initiative is being extended to other districts of the province and a strategy is also prepared to bring these students into the mainstream and conduct their exams.

Chairman Standing Committee Taj Mohammad Khan Tarand said that the ALP is the best programme and called for the removal of all shortcomings and problems in it before the extension.

Taj Muhammad Khan Tarand directed the education authorities to get approval of the posts from the finance department immediately for the schools which are nearing completion. So that the work is not delayed.

MPAs Arif Ahmedzai and Mian Sharaf Ali apprised the committee about the delay in construction of schools and other issues in Charsadda and Swat. For which Special Secretary Education Qaiser Alam was entrusted with the responsibility.

Faisal Khan Tarakai told the committee that beside other problems, the construction of schools takes a long time due to which the present provincial government has started the Rented Building School Programme.

Rawalpindi:Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi, Dr. Hassan Waqar Cheema directed the health officials for paying special attention be paid to the polio micro plan.

He stressed the importance of best cooperation between all the concerned departments for the successful completion of the campaign, and further directed to make every possible effort for the complete eradication of polio.

He said this while charging an important meeting regarding the polio micro plan, which was held here at his office on Thursday.

The meeting discussed in detail the week long special polio campaign which will start from February 3. The target of this campaign is to administer polio drops to 10,57,000 children in Rawalpindi district.

According to the details, a total of 217 Union Councils (UCs) will be covered in Rawalpindi district during the polio campaign, in which 774 area in-charges will be deployed. In addition, 3625 mobile teams and 145 transit teams have been formed so that polio drops can be delivered to every child.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Asif Arbab Niazi, CEO Health, District Health Officer (DHO), District Deputy Health Officers (DDHO) of and other concerned officials.

Multan:An Official of Regional Tax Office (RTO) Multan was removed from his post after inquiry, initiated on the orders of Federal Ombudsman, found him responsible for misbehaving with a tax payer citizen.

A citizen Shan Khaliq had stated in his complaint, filed with the Multan Regional Office of Federal Ombudsman, that he had visited RTO office Multan to have some tax related information. However, the Admin Officer there misbehaved with him.

The Incharge FO regional office Multan Dr. Zahid Malik sent the complaint to the department concerned with the direction to look into the matter, conduct inquiry and take action.

The department concerned conducted inquiry and removed him from the post he was occupying as Incharge National Tax Number (NTN) RTO Multan. The FO Multan Regional Office received the compliance report from RTO Multan office on Thursday, says an official release.

Dr. Zahid Malik said in a statement that no government official can usurp the rights of citizens and added that people should feel free to file complaint on a plain paper in case they have any complaint against any official of the federal government departments.

Rawalpindi:Rawalpindi police in an action against suspected drug peddlers and other lawbreakers here on Thursday arrested six accused besides recovering 17 kg charras and other items from their possession, said a police spokesman.

He informed that Rattaamral police held Shehryar alias Makri and recovered 12 kg charras.

The accused was allegedly involved in supplying drugs to the students of different educational institutions.

In other raids, R.A.Bazar, Saddar Wah, City and Mandra police rounded up five accused namely Haq Waris with 2100 grams charras, Arslan with 1390 grams charras, Waseem for having 720 grams charras, Hassan Ali for carrying 650 grams charras and Yasir on recovery of 570 grams charras.

Separate cases have been registered against all the accused while further investigations are underway.
