Lahore: On the instructions of Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, the process of police employees' promotions continues uninterrupted.

In continuation of this, the process for the promotion of Senior Scale Stenographers to the post of Private Secretary has been initiated.

Punjab Police spokesperson said that for promotion to the post of Private Secretary in Grade 17, ACRs and service records of 18 Senior Scale Stenographers have been asked. A meeting of the Promotion Board will be held immediately after Eid-ul-Fitr to finalize the promotions for the Private Secretary post.

Senior Scale Stenographers who meet the criteria of merit, seniority, and rules and regulations will be promoted to the post of Private Secretary. AIG Admin and Security has issued a letter in this regard to CCPO Lahore, the Regional Police Officers (RPOs) of Gujranwala, Sheikhupura, and Faisalabad, Commandant PC, Additional IG of Special Branch, CTD, PHP, Investigation Branch Punjab, and IAB.

Lahore: A book launch of 'Sadequain Gallery: An Ode to the Artist' comprising artwork of renowned painter Sadequain was held at National School of Public Policy (NSPP) here on Thursday.

National School of Public Policy Rector Dr Ijaz Munir shed light on the life and artwork of Sadequain and apprised the participants about the Sadequain's association with National School of Public Policy.

He said that officers from civil services had always respected art and patronized it.

Sadequain remained guest of National School of Public Policy from 1976 to 1986. Principal NH Jafri conserved 32 'Funparay' of Surah Rehman in the college while Azmat Ali Ranjha performed the work of decorating these 'Funparay'.

Rector Dr Ijaz Munir organized a tremendous gallery consisting of these 'Funparay'.

Pakistan Administrative Services Officer Kiran Khurshid compiled much anticipated book on the original paintings, shedding light on the extraordinary collection of calligraphic paintings by the legendary artist.

The newly released book showcases high-quality images of the original paintings of Sadequain besides providing insights into his creative journey, themes, and techniques, he added.

He further said, "It serves as a valuable resource for art enthusiasts, historians, and researchers who seek to understand the depth of his work and his profound influence on calligraphic art in Pakistan."

Dr Ijaz Munir appreciated Kiran Khurshid for compiling the book and expressed his pride in bringing Sadequain's art back into the public eye.

'Sadequain's paintings are an invaluable part of our cultural heritage. It is our responsibility to preserve and celebrate his contributions. This book is an extension of our commitment to honoring his legacy,' he stated.

He further said that the publication of this book marks a momentous landmark in the conservation and promotion of Pakistani art.

Dr Ijaz Munir said that the book is tribute to the matchless artistic brilliance of the legendary painter and is expected to garner widespread interest from both local and international art communities. Program was attended by senior civil servants and the leading personalities from the academia and arts fraternity. Among the speakers, Saleema Hashmi, F. S. Aijazuddin and Ejaz Anwar applauded this commendable step by the leading institution.

Lahore: Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP), in its 70th meeting of current fiscal year, here Thursday approved eight development schemes with estimated cost of Rs 57.382 billion.

Chaired by P and D Board Chairman Barrister Nabeel Ahmad Awan, the meeting approved the following schemes:

1) CM Punjab Laptop Program at the cost of Rs 27 billion

2) Establishment of Enforcement Stations of PERA in Punjab (New Construction / Rehabilitation of existing Government Headquarter, Lahore at the cost of Rs 9593.854 million

3) Construction of Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) Headquarter, Lahore at the cost of Rs 4419.02 million

4) Construction of Multi-Storey courts for AD and SJs and Courts for Civil Judges at District Sheikhupura at the cost of Rs 1027.810 million

5) Establishment of Material Testing Laboratories in Gujranwala and Sialkot in Collaboration with the Urban Unit at the cost of Rs 1731.213 million.

6) Establishment of Aquaculture Malis in Punjab at the cost of Rs 2169.446 million.

7) Establishment of University of Child Health Sciences at Lahore at the cost of Rs 9173.600 million.

8) Program for Revamping OPD Blocks in Tertiary Care Hospitals in Punjab at the cost of Rs 2267.485 million.

The meeting was attended by P and D Board Secretary Dr. Asif Tufail, Chief Economist Masood Anwar, P and D Board members and other senior officers.

Lahore: At least 24 people were killed and 1,514 others injured in 1,262 road accidents in Punjab during the last 24 hours. As many as 695 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 725 with minor injuries were treated at the incident site by rescue medical teams.

The data analysis showed that 852 drivers, 65 underage drivers, 158 pedestrians, and 528 passengers were among the victims of road crashes. The statistics showed that 226 accidents were reported in Lahore, which affected 287 persons, placing the provincial capital at top of the list, followed by Faisalabad with 95 accidents and 125 victims, and at third Multan with 78 accidents and 89 victims.

According to the data, 1,264 motorbikes, 80 auto-rickshaws, 124 motorcars, 37 vans, 13 passenger buses, 39 trucks and 103 other types of vehicles and slow-moving carts were involved in the road accidents.

Lahore: Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari, accompanied by Privileges Committee Chairman Sami-Ullah Khan, on Thursday visited the residence of renowned singer Naseebo Lal to inquire about her health.

She presented the artist with a bouquet and conveyed best wishes from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

During the visit, Azma Bokhari reaffirmed the Punjab government's commitment to the welfare and well-being of artists. She highlighted that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz is taking a special interest in the development and prosperity of the artist community and is implementing concrete measures to address their concerns.

Expressing her gratitude, Naseebo Lal appreciated the government's welfare initiatives for artists. She stated that Maryam Nawaz is following in the footsteps of her father, Mian Nawaz Sharif, by encouraging and supporting artists. She also prayed for the chief minister's success.

Naseebo Lal further acknowledged Nawaz Sharif's longstanding support for artists, expressing her satisfaction that Maryam Nawaz is continuing the same commitment toward the artist community.

Lahore: Inspector General of Police (Punjab) Dr. Usman Anwar released another 4.75 million rupees to pay for medical expenses of injured personnel from various districts including Lahore.

While giving details, the spokesperson of Punjab Police said that Rs. 1.5 million was released for medical expenses to injured constable Muhammad Shahzaib. Similarly, Rs. 1.5 million was also released to injured constable Nusrat Khan for medical expenses, while Rs. 1 million was given to injured Sub-Inspector Wasif Munir for treatment. Spokesperson for Punjab Police further said that injured Constable Mudassar Ahmad was given Rs. 05 lakh for medical expenses, while injured Head Constable Muhammad Imran, Constable Ali Akbar, Ghazi Younas Raza were issued a total of Rs. 2.5 lakh for medical expenses.

The Compensation Award Committee, chaired by Additional IG Welfare Imran Irshad, approved the release of funds.

IG Punjab has said that the best treatment and early rehabilitation of police ghazis is the top priority.

He said that no effort should be spared for the best health and welfare of injured brave ghazi personnel.
