Astore: Chief Justice of the Supreme Appellate Court of Gilgit-Baltistan Sardar Muhammad Shamim Khan heard cases of various natures from September 15 to 23, 2026, and pronounced judgments in 18 cases, thereby disposing of them. Notices were also issued to the relevant parties in several new appeals filed before the court.
According to details, Chief Justice Sardar Muhammad Shamim Khan heard various cases relating to criminal, civil and service matters during the seven days. After hearing arguments from the counsels of the parties and examining the available records related to the cases, the court pronounced judgments in 18 cases and disposed of them.
During this period, several new appeals were also filed by the petitioners. The appeals were admitted for hearing, and notices were issued to the concerned parties to provide all relevant stakeholders an opportunity to present their respective positions before the court.
It may be noted that the Supreme Appellate Court of Gilgit-Baltistan comprises a bench of three judges; however, at present, Chief Justice Sardar Muhammad Shamim Khan is hearing the cases. Despite limited judicial manpower, the process of hearing cases and delivering judgments continues.
The Supreme Appellate Court of Gilgit-Baltistan is playing its constitutional and legal role in providing speedy, affordable and effective justice to the people. Efforts are also continuing to provide relief to litigants through the timely disposal of cases.
