Islamabad: Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Yahya Afridi on Wednesday chaired a meeting at the Supreme Court of Pakistan, Branch Registry Karachi, to review progress on various judicial sector development projects in Sindh.
The meeting was attended by Chief Justice of the High Court of Sindh Justice Zafar Ahmed Rajput, Sindh Law Minister, Chief Secretary Sindh and Secretary Finance, Government of Sindh.
The meeting reviewed key initiatives relating to the judicial sector, including construction of Women Facilitation Centres, shifting of provincial and federal courts to suitable premises and timely release of funds for smooth and uninterrupted completion of ongoing judicial infrastructure projects.
Progress on the District Courts Complex at Korangi was also discussed, with emphasis on resolving outstanding issues and expediting work on the project.
The Chief Justice stressed that adequate infrastructure and timely financial support were essential for effective functioning of courts and efficient dispensation of justice.
He emphasized the need for sustained institutional coordination between the judiciary and the provincial government to translate judicial reform objectives into tangible improvements in court infrastructure, public facilitation and service delivery.
The representatives of the Sindh government reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to supporting the judicial sector and according priority to projects aimed at strengthening the administration of justice.
They assured that relevant departments would maintain close coordination with the judiciary to resolve outstanding issues and facilitate timely completion of the projects.
The Chief Justice observed that continued consultation and close coordination among all stakeholders, including the Sindh High Court, Bar and Government of Sindh, would help evolve amicable and viable solutions.
The initiatives are part of the broader judicial reform agenda aimed at making justice institutions more accessible, efficient, citizen-centric and responsive to public needs through improved infrastructure, technology-enabled facilities and strengthened public facilitation.
