MULTAN:In a significant move towards promoting government transparency and fostering a stronger connection between citizens and the administration, the Multan district administration has proudly unveiled the Citizen Information Portal.
This groundbreaking initiative aims to provide residents with an efficient platform to voice their concerns, access government services, and gain valuable insights into administrative proceedings.
Abida Fareed, the Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) of Multan, emphasized the importance of this initiative. She stated that the Citizen Information Portal serves as a vital tool for enhancing accountability within the government.
The portal’s modern and adaptable features are tailored to meet the needs of the citizens, facilitating streamlined administrative processes and cultivating a more informed and integrated society.
The launch event, held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Multan, was part of the CSO Bridge Program by the Farmer Development Organization. Malik Muhammad Sami, the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Finance and Planning, expressed his satisfaction with the collaborative efforts between social organizations and the government.
He stressed the role of mutual trust and partnership in bridging the gap between the common citizen and the government.
Citizen portals, like the one inaugurated in Multan, are digital hubs that provide a wide range of services and information to residents. They act as centralized platforms for citizens to access announcements, news updates, emergency alerts, and information about upcoming events or community activities. Furthermore, these portals promote transparency by granting access to government budgets, financial reports, meeting agendas, and minutes, keeping citizens well-informed about government activities.
Akmal Khan, the project coordinator for WHH, highlighted the government’s commitment to sharing crucial information with the public through such portals. Ali Ijaz, Project Coordinator of the CSO Bridge Program, emphasized that this initiative represented a significant milestone in the social development of the citizens in Multan.
“It not only facilitates citizens in providing feedback and reporting issues to local authorities but also fosters two-way communication between the government and its citizens,” he added.
Mian Tauqeer Talib, the Community Mobilization Officer, said, “The service has been designed to be accessible to people with disabilities, ensuring inclusivity.”
The event saw the presence of numerous key figures, including Mohammad Asif Iqbal (System Network Administrator DCO Office), Jawad Amin Qureshi (District Civil Society Network), Yasmin Khakwani, Aamir Shahzad Siddiqui, and others, who shared their enthusiasm for this remarkable initiative.
