RAWALPINDI: Commissioner Rawalpindi Division, Engineer Aamir Khattak on Sunday directed the authorities concerned to finalize best possible arrangements to facilitate the tourists in Murree.
He said that all the officers concerned should remain present in the field during Eid ul Fitr holidays and make all-out efforts to facilitate the tourists.
Presiding over a meeting, the Commissioner reviewed all the preparations made in Murree for Eid-ul-Fitr.
The Commissioner was informed that City Traffic Police (CTP) had released traffic plan for Murree for Eid-ul-Fitr holidays.
The GPO Chowk Murree area had been declared no parking zone to facilitate the tourists and ensure smooth flow of traffic.
Entry of motorcycles beyond the specified points should be prohibited while Kashmir-bound traffic should be allowed to use Murree expressway, the Commissioner said.
A central control room had been set up at Jinnah Hall, Murree and the focal persons of all the departments concerned would remain present 24/7 to guide the
tourists, Aamir Khattak added.
The Commissioner asked the tourists to get information about weather and traffic updates of Murree from the official accounts of the administration.
He directed the officers that while finalizing all the arrangements, the convenience of the tourists as well as the locals should be given top priority.
The facility centers at Satra Mile, Lower Topa, Jika Gulli, Kuldna, Kashmir Chowk, Sunny Bank and GPO Chowk would be fully operational, he said.
Ration stock position and petrol stock should be doubled in Murree, he instructed the authorities.
Aamir Khattak said that strict action in accordance with the law should be taken against the transporters found indulged in overcharging.
All necessary medicines, lab test facility and presence of senior doctors should also be ensured in THQ Murree, he added.
Deputy Commissioner Murree should take the Hotel Association on board so that no one could charge more than the fixed rates from the tourists, he instructed.
The aim of all these
arrangements is to provide all possible assistance to the tourists on Eid ul-Fitr, he said.
The Commissioner urged the public to cooperate with the administration on Eid ul Fitr, adding, the tourists should plan a trip according to weather conditions and the departmental advisory.
All the necessary arrangements had been completed in view of arrival of a large number of the tourists during Eid-ul-Fitr holidays, Engineer Aamir Khattak said.
The implementation of traffic management issued by CTP plan should be ensured in letter and spirit to avoid traffic mess, he added.
He informed that besides installing the information and warning boards, updated status was being displayed at various places for the convenience of tourists.
