Lahore: Lahore Commissioner Nauman Yousaf on Friday visited government schools in Lahore and Kasur and reviewed the quality of ongoing development works aimed at improving educational infrastructure.
The commissioner visited Government High School Shalimar, Government High School Fatah Garh and Government Primary School Hindal in Kasur, where he inspected the construction of new classrooms, additional washrooms and other facilities.
The CEO Education Authority Lahore, along with engineers, briefed the commissioner on the construction standards and progress of the projects. He was informed that new classrooms and additional washrooms are being constructed in 73 schools across Lahore, while school administrations, school councils and sub-engineers monitor the works on a daily basis.
Nauman Yousaf also inspected the quality of construction material being used in classrooms under construction and directed officials to ensure that all works are completed according to prescribed quality standards and within deadlines.
He said new classrooms and washrooms are being constructed in government schools according to student enrolment. He added that classrooms developed under the Early Childhood Programme are being designed to be attractive, high-quality and child-friendly.
The commissioner directed the concerned department to be informed about the roofs of extremely old rooms in some schools. He also directed officials to ensure the safety of students during construction and prevent any inconvenience to them.
Later, Nauman Yousaf, along with Kasur Deputy Commissioner Asif Raza, visited the THQ Hospital and reviewed cleanliness, availability of medicines, emergency services and other wards.
