Rawalpindi: Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Salman Ghani on Saturday visited the headquarters of the Suthra Punjab Agency Rawalpindi and reviewed the ongoing sanitation operations, monitoring mechanisms and use of technology to improve municipal services.
During his visit, the commissioner inspected the agency’s Central Control Room, where he was briefed in detail on sanitation operations, staff attendance, vehicle tracking, field monitoring and other key operational matters.
The briefing was given by Senior Manager Operations Dr Hamid Iqbal and Senior Manager MIS Ahsan Azmat Malik.
While reviewing the monitoring system, Commissioner Salman Ghani directed the agency to make supervision of sanitation operations more effective and comprehensive to ensure real-time monitoring of field activities and prompt resolution of operational issues.
He also ordered that a regular review meeting on sanitation operations and monitoring be held every Thursday to assess performance, identify shortcomings and take immediate corrective measures where necessary.
The commissioner said that, following the Punjab government’s decision to assign municipal services to Additional Deputy Commissioners, regular coordination and review meetings should also be held with them to further improve the delivery of sanitation and other municipal services.
Emphasizing the importance of public participation, he directed officials to make effective use of citizens’ feedback and complaints for improving the sanitation system. He also proposed considering the introduction of an AI-powered chatbot through which citizens could directly submit complaints, suggestions and feedback regarding sanitation services.
Managing Director Suthra Punjab Agency Rawalpindi Rana Sajid Safdar assured the commissioner that the agency would continue taking all possible measures to improve sanitation services through stronger monitoring, modern technology and the incorporation of citizens’ feedback into operational planning and service delivery.
