Peshawar:: One policeman was martyred and two others were injured in an exchange of fire with terrorists on Warsak Road here on Thursday, while a terrorist was also killed in the encounter.
According to police, the encounter took place in Garhi Sherdad village on Warsak Road following information about the presence of terrorists in the area.
A joint operation involving the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and operational police led to an exchange of fire with the militants.
One policeman embraced martyrdom while two others sustained injuries during the operation. A terrorist was also killed in the crossfire.
The injured policemen were shifted to Lady Reading Hospital (LRH), where they were provided immediate medical treatment.
LRH spokesman Muhammad Asim confirmed that two injured policemen and the body of the martyred policeman were brought to the hospital from the Warsak Road incident.
He said the condition of both injured policemen was now out of danger.
