Customs seize large quantity of smuggled betel nut

KARACHI:The Pakistan Customs authorities on Monday seized a huge quantity of smuggled betel nuts and Kattha (Catechu) in a raid conducted at the Napier Road area of the city.



According to a spokesman of customs, the Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) of Pakistan Customs raided a shop located at Napier Road and recovered 5600 kg of Kattha (Catechu) and 1860 kg of smuggled betel nuts.



The approximate value of the seized items was Rs. 6.1 million.



The seized things had been shifted to the ASO godown, and a case had been registered. Further legal proceedings were underway.
