Abbottabad: Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad Sarmad Saleem Akram has called for promotion of religious harmony, unity and brotherhood during the observance of 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal, saying the holy month teaches the values of love, tolerance and fraternity.
He expressed these views while chairing a meeting on Tuesday to review arrangements for processions to be held on 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal. Officials of relevant departments, representatives of law enforcement agencies and religious scholars attended the meeting.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned departments to ensure foolproof security for all processions and complete cleanliness of procession routes, adequate lighting and other necessary facilities well before the occasion.
He stressed that provocative activities and acts that could hurt religious sentiments should be avoided, urging all stakeholders to work together to maintain a peaceful environment.
The meeting decided that no banned organisation would be allowed to hold a procession, while provocative slogans would be strictly prohibited and the legal action would be taken against the violators.
District Police Officer Abbottabad Haroon Rashid briefed the meeting on security arrangements, saying additional police and other law enforcement personnel would be deployed at sensitive locations. He said all available resources would be utilised to maintain law and order and protect the lives and property of citizens.
Religious scholars assured the administration of their full cooperation in promoting religious harmony, unity and brotherhood during the 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal observance.
