DC holds introductory meeting with journalists

SIALKOT:Deputy Commissioner Captain (retd) Shah Mir Iqbal said on Thursday pointation of problems, being faced by people through the media, and suggestions for their solution would be welcomed.

Panels of journalists would be formed in consultation with the media person, who would be authorised to participate in various government meetings.

The objective of the initiative is to get feedback of neutral people, along with the official reports, about the welfare projects and initiatives of the Punjab government and the district administration, elaborated the DC.

He expressed these views at an introductory meeting with representatives of the print and electronic media at the committee room of his office.

Shah Mir said it would be his priority to work for development, beauty and improvement of citizens of Iqbal’s city and Sialkot district.

He said that attention would be paid to timely completion of development projects under the Punjab government.

Projects under Punjab Intermediate Cities Improvement Investment (PICIIP) are pending; PICIIP officers and National Engineering Services Pakistan (NESPAK) have been directed to come up with a detailed briefing, he added.

The deputy commissioner said that instructions had been issued to improve the health and education sectors, traffic problems, price control, elimination of encroachments, drainage and water supply issues and improving the quality of service delivery in government institutions.

The DC said that people associated with the media were playing a very important role in society. Communication with them would help solve problems of the people as well as the journalist community.

Earlier, journalists informed the new DC about the problems faced by the citizens.
