HYDERABAD:The Consul General of Thailand Narut Soontarodom along with Deputy Consul General Siriporn Tantipanyathep Thursday visited the University of Sindh and called on the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Siddique Kalhoro.
According to a university spokesman, the meeting served as a platform to deliberate on academic collaborations between Sindh University and Thailand institutions of higher education, contemplate exchange programs, and advance joint research initiatives.
The Vice-Chancellor briefed the Consul General about Sindh University’s academic landscape revealing its portfolio of approximately 75 diverse academic disciplines, catering to Bachelor’s, Master’s, MPhil, and PhD programmes.
He said that the university currently hosted a substantial student body comprising 48,000 individuals, encompassing both local and international scholars with 200 foreign students among them.
Dr. Kalhoro expressed a warm welcome for prospective Thailand students considering Sindh University, extolling the institution’s hallmark of delivering affordable yet high-quality higher education. He also underscored the university’s unwavering commitment to fostering research excellence.
Dr. Kalhoro articulated the possibility of forging educational agreements and memorandums of understanding with Thailand universities, facilitated through the Thai Consulate in Karachi.
The Consul General Narut Soontarodom showcased a keen interest in Sindh University’s educational offerings, emphasizing the eagerness of Thai students to pursue studies in Pakistan, particularly in fields like Islamic studies and Arabic language.
He also endorsed the idea of formalizing educational partnerships between Sindh University and Thailand’s academic institutions. Such collaborations, he said, could facilitate reciprocal student and faculty exchange programs and bolster the advancement of joint research endeavors.
The Consul General Narut Soontarodom also extended an invitation to Registrar Prof. Dr. Mushtaq Ali Jariko to visit the Consulate and deliver a comprehensive lecture on Sindh University’s educational programs.
