Lahore:Deputy Commissioner Lahore Muhammad Ali Ejaz has directed regular structural inspections and safety measures at educational institutions, besides ensuring daily dengue surveillance around schools.
During his visit to the Government Girls Elementary School Rasul Park, the DC inspected various blocks and classrooms and reviewed the structural condition of the building and facilities being provided to students.
MCL Chief Officer Kaleem Yousaf and Assistant Commissioner City Rana Amir Liaquat accompanied the DC. The CEO District Education Authority briefed him on the overall condition and arrangements at the school. Dengue field workers also briefed the DC on surveillance activities around the school and measures being taken to identify and eliminate dengue larvae.
The DC directed the officials concerned to ensure regular structural inspections of the school building and maintain all necessary safety arrangements. He also ordered that cleanliness in classrooms and provision of clean drinking water be ensured on a priority basis. He directed the authorities to prevent accumulation of stagnant water around the school and ensure regular dengue spray, besides ordering dengue teams to conduct daily surveillance around educational institutions. ‘Ensuring the safety of students and providing them with a conducive educational environment is our top priority,’ the DC said.
He said a zero-tolerance policy was being followed against dengue larvae around educational institutions and directed the concerned teams to maintain improved cleanliness standards at schools. He said all basic facilities were being ensured at educational institutions to provide students with a safe and healthy learning environment.
