Chiniot: Deputy Commissioner Chiniot Ayesha Rizwan on Thursday visited various low-lying areas of the city to review rainwater drainage operations following recent rainfall.
During the visit, accompanied by the Managing Director of the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) and other officials, she inspected dewatering pumps and drainage arrangements at different locations to assess the performance of WASA’s machinery and field staff.
The deputy commissioner directed officials to ensure the swift drainage of rainwater from all low-lying areas to minimize inconvenience for residents.
She instructed the WASA managing director to keep all disposal stations, machinery and personnel fully operational throughout the monsoon season, adding that officers should remain in the field and be prepared to respond promptly to any emergency situation.
Ayesha Rizwan warned that negligence or delays in drainage operations would not be tolerated, emphasizing that providing timely relief to the public remains the district administration’s top priority.
