Dera ismail khan:The Dera police have foiled an alleged robbery attempt in Shah Jahan Shaheed Town and arrested six suspected robbers, recovering three 30-bore pistols and 10 rounds from their possession, police said on Wednesday.
Acting on a tip-off, a police team reached Gali Jogianwali within the jurisdiction of City police station, where seven suspected persons were reportedly present with the intention of committing a crime. On seeing the police, the suspects attempted to flee, but four of them were caught after a chase, while the others managed to escape. The police later arrested two more suspects.
The arrested suspects were identified as Ameer Baloch of Ghulama Wala, Noman Baloch of Jabbar Wala, Abdul Sattar Kharoti of Thathal and Umar Ali Awan of Chowk Sadiqa, D.I. Khan.
The police said a 30-bore pistol and four rounds were recovered from Ameer Baloch, a pistol and three rounds from Noman Baloch, and another pistol and three rounds from Abdul Sattar Kharoti.
During preliminary interrogation, the suspects allegedly disclosed that they had come to Shah Jahan Shaheed Town to commit a robbery, police claimed.
The police have launched further investigation, while raids are being conducted to arrest the absconding suspect, Saifur Rehman of Musakhel.
