Lahore: Director General (DG) Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Tahir Farooq presided over a meeting to review the performance, facilities and operational affairs of LDA Sports Complexes.
During the meeting, officials briefed the DG LDA on the new services and facilities introduced at the sports complexes. It was informed that paddle tennis courts had been established at Garden Town, LDA Sports Complex Johar Town and West Canal.
The meeting was further informed that a Rigid and Fixed Diaphragm (RFD) system had been installed at four LDA sports complexes. RFD refers to a structural or building-design arrangement in which a floor or roof diaphragm is treated as rigidly connected/fixed for structural analysis, allowing it to transfer and distribute lateral forces to the building’s structural elements. The facilities at LDA’s seven sports complexes are currently benefiting more than 7,000 families.
The performance of the sports complexes and the facilities available to visitors were also reviewed in detail. The DG assigned various tasks to the newly-appointed Director Sports Complexes and directed that the operational management of the facilities be upgraded on corporate-sector lines, with greater emphasis on efficiency, service delivery and professional management.
He further directed that life-saving and other relevant training for the staff of LDA sports complexes be made mandatory to ensure safety and preparedness.
Tahir Farooq also directed that the LDA sports complexes be shifted to solar energy in a phased manner, as part of efforts to improve energy efficiency and reduce operational costs.
