Khanewal: The district administration on Thursday announced establishment of the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) in Khanewal to improve condition of parks and green belts.
In the first phase, PHA would take over the maintenance and management of parks and green belts within the city.
A meeting of the District Transition Team regarding the establishment of PHA was held under chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Maliha Rasheed.
During the meeting, detailed consultations were held on handover of assets of Municipal Committee Khanewal to PHA. It was decided that a formal demand would be sent to the Director General PHA to overcome shortages of vacant posts, technical staff, and machinery.
Additional Deputy Commissioner General Ghulam Mustafa Sehar, Deputy Director Development Muzaffar Khan, Director Horticulture Multan Saad, District Officer IandS Zain Ali, and Chief Officer Municipal Committee Inam Masoom were also present on the occasion.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned departments to complete the handing and taking over of assets and make PHA Khanewal functional by next week.
She said the establishment of PHA would significantly improve the condition of parks and green belts in the district.
Maliha Rasheed further stated that the scope of PHA would gradually be extended to other tehsils, while work should also be initiated to establish a district-owned nursery to support horticulture needs.
