Karachi: The Sindh Education Department has implemented an e-transfer system for the transfers of teachers and departmental employees, aimed at ensuring transparency, merit, and timely decision-making in the transfer process.
On the directives of Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah, the traditional transfer mechanism has been replaced with a digital system as part of the broader digitalization of the School Education Department. Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah stated that moving the transfer system online would eliminate favoritism and unnecessary delays while promoting a transparent and merit-based process.
He added that the e-transfer system would become fully operational from January 15, and would be expanded in phases to achieve effective and sustainable results.
Under the new system, teachers will be able to submit their transfer applications online and monitor the status of their applications from home. The e-transfer system is a cabinet-approved initiative and a key milestone in the department’s journey towards digital transformation.
In the first phase, the system has been introduced for teachers, while in subsequent phases all employees of the department will be brought under its scope.
The initiative is expected to save time, reduce costs, and eliminate unnecessary administrative hurdles. The system will initially cover transfers of Primary School Teachers (PSTs) and Junior Elementary School Teachers (JESTs). Currently, the Sindh School Education Department has a total of 133,547 teachers, including 105,258 Primary School Teachers and 28,289 Junior Elementary School Teachers.
The online system is expected to particularly benefit female teachers and other officials by providing greater convenience.
The education minister further said that the use of modern technology in the education sector would administrative efficiency and transparency, reduce reliance on human intervention, minimize delays in resolving issues, and enable timely correction of errors.
